Guest guest
First, I want to thank everyone who offered advice, suggestions, support and prayers. These are greatly appreciated, and I considered every single one. I also spoke extensively with my doctors, and most importantly, prayed for God to show me what He wants, what I should do on the question of getting a trache and using a ventilator in an effort to extend the time that I have left. Late this morning, after once again discussing this with my doctors, and after receiving guidance from God, I made my decision. I will not agree to the surgery nor the use of a ventilator. God has reminded me that it is He who decides when I pass from this mortal life, and no one other than He can make such a decision. What date He has set for me, it will happen whether or not I have a trache, use a ventilator, or am sitting in a room with the world's best physicians. With that decided, I considered the " quality of life " question. Whatever time I have left, I intend to use to continue my ministry. Every morning, upon awakening, I ask God to let me bring just one more person to see His great love for us. After that, I check the day's obituaries, and if I am not in there, I know it will be a good day. I will not spend my time in any other fashion than continuing my ministry. A trache and/or a ventilator would keep me from accomplishing this. Therefore, on a purely secular level, I will not get a trache. I do, however, use my portable oxygen whenever I am out and about, and the oxygen concentrator when I am home. This not only brings me some relief, it also helps reoxygenate my blood. Once again, thank you for the many thoughtful and supportive messages. Rev Jim
