Guest guest
Qwerty, for some reason this reminds me about something that happened years ago with my mom. I'm not a terribly religious person, but was baptized at 25 when I lived out of the country and had found that spirituality provided some balance for me. Unfortunately, at that time, I still told my mother everything that happened in my life, and so she knew all about it. One day not long after I was back in the country, she asked for some help finding some things at the library for her graduate class (note for the wise: my mother has two degrees and has done about 10% of the actual work for any of them, I think...). I agreed to help, but once we got there she started saying crappy things to me when I was trying to help her, and so I looked at her and told her she couldn't treat me that way when I was trying to help - she hissed " STOP IT, " and I promptly left and walked the couple of miles back to my apartment. About 2 hours later (I was home and really ticked off), she had the gall to call me up and say this: " NT, you need to forgive me, because Jesus says we should forgive each other, so you have to forgive me. " No apology, no nothing. Just basically telling me that I wasn't allowed to feel anger towards her because Jesus says so. And all I could think of at the time was " if that's not taking the Lord's name in vain, I don't know what is. " (As I said, I'm not terribly religious, so she really struck the wrong note with me...) - NT > > > > What would you think? Innocent gift? Hidden agenda? Guest guest
Laugh... well, this happened 10 years ago, but since she's currently finding ways to sneak around my e-mail filter to ask if " we can PLEASE bury the hatchet!!! " (she went absolutely bonkers when she found out I was pregnant and did so much horrible stuff that I finally went NC for good - somehow, this is now about me having a chip on my shoulder), I would guess that I can expect that she'll try that again soon, and I'll keep it in mind! *grin* - NT > > > > > > > > What would you think?
