PLEASE READ From List Manager-Homeschooling

Hi all,

I realize thare have been some hurt feelings and strong reactions to

some of the recent posts on homeschooling. Please remember that we

are a diverse community who share the effects of having a BP parent,

but who are different in so many other ways. Please be respectful

of that.

We are not all going to think the same-and issues dealing with our

children usually bring up STRONG emotions. I know this woman who

does not speak much German, yet sends her child to a school where

ONLY German is spoken!! The kids start at the school at age 4 and

all day only hear German. Sounds kind of strange...but that mom is

me. The city I live in has three such public schools-German,

French, and Spanish-and the demand for seats is so high they use a

lottery system.

My point is not if this type of school is better than home

schooling, a fine arts school (which our city also offers), an

environmental education school, a Catholic School, Lutheran School,

or what ever. My point is -we are adults now and we can make our

own choices for ourselves and the welfare of our children.

This is NOT a forum for a debate or even a discussion of which type

of schooling is best any more than we need a debate on white bread

vs wheat or which way to hang the toilet paper.

The initial post was valid-asking for opinions on how to deal with

certain behaviors from other parents. Let us remember to stay on

topic and to respect and embrace our diversity.

I also want to acknowledge and thank everyone involved for doing

your best in dealing with this issue. I tend to think that the

folks on the list act with good intentions and do not set out to

offend others.
