The question is why? I've been on 5 grains for about 6 weeks and feeling good, started losing a bit of weight. At the same time that I increased to 5 grains I also increased h/c from 20mg to 30mg and started sleeping better than I've done for years.

Might you be taking too much Lynda?

ok, I haven't been paying attention to what my body was telling me!

Ankles and feet started swelling, I put it down to the hot weather

Tinnitus much worse but it always has waxed and waned

At the weekend I fell asleep during the day, haven't done that for

ages

Tongue enlarged so much that the sides are sore from scraping against

my teeth

Finally, today water started tasting bitter - I suddenly remember

saying that she thought water tasted bitter when she was hypo.

So the penny finally dropped and I realised that I've gone hypo again

So would the increase in h/c make the armour more available and am I

now running out? I really can't afford to take more armour as I

don't have a script and it costs a fortune to order from our sources.

But if needs must...

The only other thing I can think of is that I was taking iodoral

12.5mg x 4 for 3 months, then weaned down to 12.5 x 3, then 12.5 x 2

I wonder if the drop in this could be the cause - again, an expensive

supplement that I was hoping not to have to take long term

I find when you are getting NEAR your perfect dose, the time between

going hypo is extended. I would try a 1/4 grain increase in Armour

FIRST. If thatdoesn;t help your symptoms, the increase the Iodine a bit.

Thyroid hormones are made of Iodine, so it definitely can affect your

thyroid levels to add it in. My last dose changes I have held for about

4=6 MONTHS to fully feel what they did, but I am going on symptoms alone.

More cortisol uses more thyroid, and more thyroid needs more cortisol.

Usually when you increase one (with adrenal fatigue) you need to

increase the other.

I bet it was the iodoral that changed it for you.

Yo ucan try Lugol's solution, its cheaper, you put one or two drops in water

or juice and drink it, per day.

I've been on 3 grains for about 2 1/2 months. I just went up to 3 1/2 this

weekend, as I'm starting to feel tired in the afternoon, and the aches and

pains, and my " waddling " gait is coming back. I've had a few headaches

lately, too, and the weight loss has plateaued. We'll see! I was hoping to

stay around 3 grains since I have an rx for that, and I think my MD's head

will pop right off and sail into orbit if I ask for 3 1/2 or 4, roflmao!!!!!

That is about how long it takes for me to feel hpo again after a dose

raise when I still needed more Armour.

I know this doesn't belong on this list but the question is directed at .

I have some generic thyroid that I could use to supplement my armour but I can't remember which one you said was strongest - Time Cap Labs or Qualitest. I have both and could add some to my 5 grains of armour.

, any idea of the percentages of these two compared to armour?

I believe th equalitest is slightly stronger than TCL. But they are

close! I would say for 5 grains Armoru would equal 6 grains of either of

those you have.

I don't know, I ordered mine from J.Crows and its just " lugols " . I actualy

stopped taking it because I was getting a lump in my throat feeling, now I'm

just taking kelp. I may try it again soon, as I'm not sure if it was me

just coming down with a bug. I've been meaning to ask on the iodine list

about it, but keep forgetting.

I think both the HC increase and the drop in Iodoral could explain going

hypo again, or perhaps it's the combination of the two. I recently started

on 20 mg. HC and found I needed to bump my thyroid up 1/2 grain after being

stable on the same dose (4 gr) for a year.

You may not have been on Iodoral long enough to have achieved iodine

sufficiency. There was a recent discussion on the Iodine group about the

cost of Lugol's solution vs. Iodoral, and it seemed like using Lugol's was

about 1/10 the cost of Iodoral. People said they couldn't taste the Lugol's

when they put it in drinks. Their files list sources for Lugol's.

www.illnessisoptional.com sells Iodoral at 20% off.

I didn't have testing to find out whether I was at full sufficiency

for iodine but I thought the protocol was 50mg a day for 3 months and

then taper down.

I think I'm going to get Lugol's, I'm in the UK and although I did

find a source here it is very expensive and last time I looked at

illnessisoptional they charged a tremendous amount for overseas

shipping (like 3 times what it actually would have cost them)
