Hi,

I turned in my hours last year and got a note back that one of the providers I

had listed wasn't pre-approved. I also had turned in hours for a CEU program

that I had presented to other RDs (hadn't read the info carefully enough as it

states you can't count those hours).

There wasn't any big deal to all this, other than going in and putting in

another few CEU hours that I had completed in the meantime (not planning to need

to log them for ADA CDR).

I got my notification letter that all my requirements for cycle ending 5/31/08

were met on Jan 24, 2006. Even when I was a " stay at home mom " , I had my hours

completed in advance and extra ones.

When it comes to staying up on what is going on, I don't think 75 comes nearly

close enough to what we need. ADA membership provides something like 4 hours of

CEU every month with the Journal free of charge. There are several other " free "

hours out there if you keep your eyes open.

I agree with the statement on your last parragraph. I also don't think that

75 CPUs is enough to keep me current and on the cutting edge. That is why I

attend many more programs and classes than is required. I am not too

concerned with whether they're needed or not for certification, but whether

I have continued to learn and grow professionally.

How can you be sure it won't happen?

This is the first cycle of submitters. If we won't be vocal now - it will get

more and more complicated. Don't you see a trend already?

First PDP, then MS? What's next? They are not so hard on approving now for two

reasons - I believe

1. They are overwhelmed with the paperwork themselves and explore the final step

of completion for the first cycle.

2. They are well aware of the petition, which is still open for signatures. If

they will disapprove/deny many PDPs - more RDs/DTRs will sign the petition.

Needless to say - they don't want it.

Yes, you could say I have a " power drive " . if anyone thinks that way...allow me

to quote my dear Marilyn Monroe:

" Those who know me better - know better " .

have a good one

Re: Again with the portfolio.

Ok, it's good to see the enthusiasm of the 'new' RDs. I don't want to

stir up the discussion but I finished my portfolio a year in advance,

logged to the website, got the activities approved in about six weeks.

I suggest that you keep those portfolios in a safe, accessible place.

Massachusetts has licensure (which I strongly support).

And lucky me, I have been chosen for a random audit and have to submit

proof of activities (30 hours) in the two year period 3/04 to 3/06

which doesn't coincide with my registration. It is a learning

experience about bureaucracy that I could have done without.

better shot!! Sigh. Raphaela Rozanski, MS, RD, LDN

un-renew our memberships. How is that for a plan. Again, a group

action is always a strongest impact then individuals. We can circulate

an e-mail hear and on RD Forum see how many wants to unsubscribe and

if it is 100 or more- we pick up a date (2-3 days window) to all these

100 to actually unsubscribe. IN hopes of 95% cooperation - I thing we

can send our message.

With your last words, Merav, you've shown me your sense of humor once more,

my dear friend. A little rye, very tongue in cheek, but very good. Now, one

question, I've always in my mind when emailing you think of you with raven

hair. Are you blonde? Oh well, doesn't matter, MM wasn't either, not

really.

I hope no one confuses zealousness, passion and enthusiasm for need for

power. They're vastly different.

Ha!!! Ja ja ja! Of course you have red hair! It explains a lot. How could

I be so wrong? It fits. Thanks for responding to a very personal and

non-nutrition related question.

Go on the website; members only sign in. You should be able to log the

Journal hours on-site. Either way you still have to log them into your

activity log for credit. Raphaela
