Guest guest
Hi everybody! This sounds like a good place to start. What is the dump-o-meter? New to list, Joni > I have heard that a protein train can help reset the dump-o-meter. Sounds like it worked for you.
Guest guest
Toi Could be yes. It really doesn't take much for some of us to dump. Hope you're feeling better! > > Is it possible that the old dumping mechanisms can be reset after > they have seemingly malfunctioned? > > > Huggz, > Toi
Guest guest
Toi, This is just an opinion but it would seem reasonable to me that because you are eating basically just protein for several days that you body has become unaccustomed to dealing with sugar and that to suddenly give it a lot of sugar caused the dump. When you were eating more carbs to start with then some extra sugar probably wouldn't have been so " noticeable " . Does that make sense? Anyway whatever the reason - it seems like good news to me! Carol Dump-O-Meter Is it possible that the old dumping mechanisms can be reset after they have seemingly malfunctioned? I've been on this protein feast for a few days, with the first 3 consisting solely of liquid protein and the past 2 with high protein, almost no carb, solids (boiled egg, chicken breast, sliced turkey, cheese, etc.) along with my liquid protein. Well today, much to my disappointment at the time, I took a small piece of Enstrom's toffee that was offered to me and within minutes of eating it felt those old, but very familiar, sensations of dumping... hot flashes, confusion, gut ache, extreme nausea, shakes. Now I'm fighting the urge to lay my head down for a deep sleep. I swear, dumping has always seemed to take a huge toll on my body and I seem to need a good nap, just to recover from an episode. Anyway, I haven't dumped in a very long time. Not since at least my 2nd pregnancy trimester, which was almost a year ago, and it was upsetting to think that this deterrent would no longer be available to help me " just say no " to sugars. As sick as I feel right now, I'm really hoping it is possible that I have reset my dump-o-meter. Opinions appreciated.
