Guest guest
Whew, I had no idea - received the following with permission to post to list anonymously. Jan >>>> I just finished chemo 11/29 (breast cancer). I had 4 treatments of Adriamycin and Cytoxan and 12 of Taxol. I also had a year of Herceptin--about 27 treatments. A VERY quick glance through my explanation of benefit statements totals approx. $142,300. Wow. I had wanted to total it up and hope to do a more accurate job someday but that should get you started. I looked very quickly at my radiology costs and they were at least $900 a week for 6 weeks, but I seem to remember some charge for $10000 during radiation--can't find it now, of course. My insurance company is Anthem--they frustrated me for years because they wouldn't allow me to have an ultrasound done at the same time as my mammogram, in spite of the fact that almost every time the radiologist who read my mammogram would order an ultrasound because they couldn't see what they needed to due to my dense breast tissue. I'm back to fighting with them again over diagnostics, but they have shelled out thousands of dollars for my treatment with very little trouble. You're wise to be looking at this ahead of time!
