Guest guest
I thought we had to enter them within 120 days of earning the credit. I've been bumming b/c I didn't enter whole day seminars within that time frame and thought I'd lost the credit. Am I mistaken? Sure hope so! Thanks, Ann Re: PDP You can enter them as you go. I just started entering mine and wish I had done it all along as I earned them. Candi PDP Does any know if you can enter your continuing ed activities as you go or do you enter them once you have the 75 credits? Thanks! Guest guest
If you have a CPE activity that doesn't relate to your current learning plan you have 120 days from the date of that activity to submit a revised learning plan. I have done this and it was accepted right away. Guest guest
I entered mine at the end and boy is that time consuming. You can enter them along along the time frame, just don't submit the total until you get to 75. I actually entered about 110 hrs because I wasn't sure if I would get credit as stated on the CEU and was fine. Re: PDP You can enter them as you go. Guest guest
I am just starting a new PDP. The one I just completed, I waited to enter everything in March and they were due May 31. There was activities that had spanned the entire 5 years. Everything was accepted with no problems. What I learned from this was not to wait. Why? I am sure there are activities that I missed and didn't give myself all the credit I deserved. I have hence been entering my activities as they occur. I already have 100..even though not all of my goals have activities yet. I learned the valuable lesson to not to wait - even though you can, you shouldn't. Carol CarolSCasey@... Guest guest
I agree with Carol on this, also. I just finished my 5 years this past May, and waited until March to finally start entering information. It takes a long time and you forget exactly what you learned/how it benefited you from something done 5 years ago. I also agree its a good idea to have more than the 75 credits... you just never know. As it was I had 82 and they didn't take one of the things I did, but I did squeak by. Had they not accepted more I would have been up the creek with only a short time period to get the credits in... Of course, now I have to come up with my new 5 year plan...! Guest guest
I completed my PDP in May of last year. Thank goodness I was approved. But I did lose 75 hours because I had not updated my plan and most of the hours I had received were not reflective of my plan. You MUST update your plan within 120 days of receiving the education if it does not correspond with your plan. I know that this has been stated before, but I just don't want anybody having to go through what I did. I ended up having to spend quite a bit of money out of my own pocket to catch up. It's just another good reason to record as you go. My plan now has an objective for every single topic. I made the objective as vague as possible (ie - To learn about medical nutrition). This way if I happen to get credits on a topic that I had not originally planned on and I forget to add it to my PDP plan, I'm safe. Also, if I get credits on a specific topic (ie - weight management in gastic bypass patients), you'll still be covered under the medical nutrition topic. I guess what I'm trying to say is to not make your plan too specific - it could backfire on you. Now, I know that this completely defeats the purpose of the PDP plan, but (in my opinion) if you want to be safe - make vague objectives for every topic. By the way, this was recommended by the CDR to me! Good luck to everybody going through this! _____ From: rd-usa [mailto:rd-usa ] On Behalf Of kalice Sent: Friday, August 03, 2007 8:35 AM To: rd-usa Subject: Re: PDP You may know this Carol, but just in case others don't... Guest guest
I agree with everyone about entering as you go since it was hard to remember what I learned in the classes I took 4 years ago, etc. Is there a limit to the number of times you can amend your learning plan? I couldn't find it in the book anywhere. > > I completed my PDP in May of last year. Thank goodness I was approved. Guest guest
For those of you who want to avoid the hassle of entering data and recording " what did you learn in school today " -reports........ The petition is still open. I sent it to CDR, when they had the survey about the PDP awhile ago. I invited them to contact me for further conference/discussion and never heard from them. I also Cc-ed the petition to out President Ms. Guilbride and her response was basically - 'if you don't like it you can choose another profession......' so much for freedom of speach and respect for the members she represents (I did not renew my membership this year). So - To all of you great supporters out there (over 3100!) Thank you for your support. I wish I had more updates on that. Guest guest
The petition is worth signing, but it looks like it's going no where right now. As for respecting members who don't like it, I agree with you. As for membership, I renew to save money on my auto insurance. That's about it. As for freedom of speech, you and we spoke and were heard, although the 1st amendment has nothing to do with private affairs. The caveat to " free speech " is that we have a right to speak, but not a right to be listened to. No one has to actually listen to what we say, especially in private matters outside of civil government. ADA did hear, but ignored. W.
