Re COBRA federal law allows the group to term the COBRA if Medicare entitlement starts after COBRA starts. I've never seen a group allow the member to continue but the question should be asked of the group, since it is employer choice.

Re: non-group, check the policy details. If allowed, and it's an individual policy, it will be secondary to Medicare when entitlement begins and may not be the best way to supplement Medicare.

Hello everyone,If a patient (I work with kidney pts) is on Cobra or non-group commerical insurance policy could they lose it if they enroll in medicare?Thank you!

So, if they delay enrolling in medicare to keep COBRA don't they get penalized?
