Guest guest
AthenaHealth EMR is expensive. For our practice the quote for services was 20K+ per year. I was curious to see if any of you are familiar with AthenaHealth EMR? If so, any thoughts on how it compares to Amazing Charts?Looking forward to meeting everyone at the IMP camp. Guest guest
and Friends, We discussed this not too long ago, within the last few months. Athenahealth, the entire company that is their consulting, advising, EMR and Practice Managment Software, the whole kit and kaboodle from what I understand. I saw and read press releases with all the make you puke your lunch up feel good, says nothing CCHIT while hiding the fact that the Fox has now totally entired, actually purchased the entire henhouse.... But what is worse yet is that they will be designing systems and even compiling databases as they have always bragged about doing if you have read their old promotional stuff... Why use Athena because they have the best most complete database on payor habits and practices, coding, downcoding and that they will pick up on trends for you because they are tracking all your brother sister practices and docs in their huge system... Well now, who do you think might modify the software in the carriers' favor, better yet, perhaps only in their own favor while not quite so favorable to other carriers? Who is going to have access to all these docs charting and coding habits so they can better go after them (perhaps not, cash paying customer, might look to obvious but) or worse yet use these trends and aquired knowledge to better attack us on the never ending battle for give backs... This is one of my main arguements against centralized databases and chart records in the first place that carriers have full access to... Access to any chart at any time?? Give me a break, there will come a day then that no doctor hasn't given back huge amounts of money for visits and services they rightfully rendered and saw other than these bastards can come after us in waves that we just can't fight back against their level of money and resourses... this is the begining of the end if allowed to happen. I would hope that each and every doc and practice who is presently an AthenaHealth customer quickly and vocally pulls out of their relationship with them based on their unethical relationship with the opposite side that doctors have to fight against each and every day.... Spread the word to any and all.... To: Sent: Tue, September 21, 2010 4:00:07 PMSubject: EMRs ,Who is being bought by UHC? Is it an EMR company? I must have missed part of this thread!! I agree that I do not ever want to deal with UHC, so I won't be buying. So, please tell me which one it is.Thanks,
Guest guest
I am using Practice Fusion and find them innovative, creative with timing expansion of their capabilities. They have integrated with Quest and Lab Corp labs as well as others. They ingrate with Kareo as a PM and billing company, although I don't use them for my billing. I am using a firm in Atlanta, who have been in business for a few years and seem very competent. Although I am a cash practice, my billers send my patients a clean insurance claim form for patients to submit to their insurer, based upon the data I create in my Practice Fusion EHR. Because I am a start up, my billers charge me $7/ claim form, regardless of the $ amount on the claim. They wish to charge me $100 minimum starting in Jan, hoping that my volume will cover the $7/form to cover the minimum charge. If this is not the case, I am expecting that they will be willing to defer the monthly minimum until my volume of claims covers the $100/month minimum they hope for. Their involvement saves me alot of time. They offer directly to my patients the option to submit and track and appeal the claim to the insurer on behalf of the patient for a $10 fee from the patient to them. The patient can choose to use their service or not as they wish. I think this is a deal for the patient who doesn't want to deal with the insurance bureaucracy. For those compulsive who thrive on bureaucracy, there is no charge to the patient to receive the clean claim from my service.
