Guest guest
The free day for me is a > day of rest from serious exercize and a day to eat foods not authorized like > pizza and ice cream. , thanks for your insights into the movie verse's the book! But may I ask one more question about your own free day? You said you rest from exercise and eat unauthorized foods. Do you portion control those foods or eat all you want on your free day? I'm just curious how " far overboard " folks are going on this day with food. I know for me I love sweets and ate an entire pie on my free day, but felt lousy the next day and decided maybe my free day should be reduced to a free meal...or either avoid the sweets and just eat an unauthorized food for lunch and dinner that day (pizza and burgers would also be a first choice for me too!) Thanks for the info, Terry
Guest guest
Speaking for myself: I do both. About half the time I manage to use the free day just to enjoy some of the 'off-list' foods, and the other half of the time I go a bit hog-wild and consume about 1000- 1300 extra calories worth of food. I think psychologically that sort of 'binge' really does help, even though I am convinced it isn't the smartest thing for the body. But every single time I've done it I get back on track the next day or so and the extra weight (usually water gain) drops back off and I can continue to make progress. I'm at a weight point now where I don't really need to lose much (if any) more weight, as long as I can drop my fat percentage a little bit more. If your focus is on dramatic fat loss, it it probably better NOT to go hog wild, but just enjoy the forbidden foods a bit, but still trying to keep calories at nearly the same level as the other 6 days. My 2 cents worth. Guest guest
Your free day can be whatever you want. I usually have 3 free meals on my free day and don't eat anything in between. I'd guess I'm getting somewhere between around 3-4000 calories depending on the free day. As long as you aren't consuming 6000 or more calories on your free day, I don't think it is going to hurt your progress. It takes 3500 excess calories to gain 1 lb. You will likely gain 3-10 lbs on the scale after a free day, but mostly from water retention from eating so many carbs. Within a couple days, your weight returns to normal as long as you return to BFL eating.
