Hi Susie,

It is possible the feet itching is an allergy,I read somewhere that the body

will cause the feet to itch in a way thats like no other sometimes if

allergies are really acting up.

My uncle had asthma in the 50's and 60's when the fire trucks would have to

come give you oxygen,it was a very frightening thing for him and me as a

child, his was triggered by stress .I look back and think I might have been

diabetic as a child, albumin showed up in my urine once and I was itty bitty

and they were always trying special stuff to get me to gain weight. I went on

the low fat/low cholesteral diet for 3 or 4 yrs before I knew what was wrong

with me and I just got worse. My good cholesteral was 35(typical syndrome x)

and I just kept gaining weight and feeling lousy.

You take care and exercise whenever it is possible and safe

Hi Susie,

I hope you'll be taking your bp machine to New Orleans with you. In

mid-September it'll still be REAL hot & humid.

Can you tell when the dehydradion is coming on.?? It's happened before I

presume.?

I was doing step aerobics and a stationary bike, and kept being short of

breath and having chest pains and feeling faint. I blamed it on asthma and

shingles, then discovered I have a bad heart. And ordinarily I am on the

road, so I don't get much vigorous exercise. Also, I am recovering from a

" lawn accident. " So my only exercise is just the work around here. I have

some land in the country. I'm going to be moving soon, and expect to be

hiking and lifting weights and resuming the exercise bike soon.

<< ... I have been doing alot of aerobics(twice a day) and I don't usually

skip a day,but I have found the weight does not drop until I skip a day,any

opinion on that. I can work my buns off for a week and not drop a pd but if

I decide to take a break then the weight will drop. >>

One theory about type 2 diabetes is that we are the descendants of ancestors

who developed extremely thrifty genes in order to survive during times of

famine. Some people claim that if we cut calorie intake too much, our bodies

go into " starvation mode " and it becomes extremely difficult to lose weight.

I unknowingly set myself up for that because I was, like my sister, probably

diabetic from childhood. I was always athletic, but would also starve myself

to keep the weight off. Now, because I am sedentary, I find weight loss an

elusive goal. I lost 25 pounds and stalled out.

<< Also my feet started going nuts last night with itching, they were itching

so

intensley I had to put them under cool water to stop it or try to stop it. I

was on the computer more then normal yesterday and I have stopped taking my

mevacor (cholesteral) any thoughts? >>

This is a new phonomenon to me. Which part of your feet were itching? Have

you been wearing new shoes or new socks? Were you barefoot when the itching

began?

I hope to have my b.p. meds better regulated before then. I read a recent

study that said that monotherapy with b.p. meds can work adequately (keep

withdrawing one's meds and determine which one is really doing the work, and

stop the others). I suspect that I really don't need an ACE inhibitor AND a

beta blocker AND a calcium channel blocker AND a water pill. If you really

look at what all these meds to, it is sort of frightening. I never have

liked taking a pill where the fine print reads: " The exact mechanism of

this drug is unknown ... "

<< Can you tell when the dehydradion is coming on.?? It's happened before I

I must have been overmedicated, or my b.p. would not have dropped into the

zone where my machine basically no longer recognized me as a living entity.

I'm a goofball, and I was yelling at it, " But I'm ALIVE. " It would " think "

a long time, then go: Err___ I have never in my life had that low of a

reading ... but I have never before been on such heavy doses of medication.

So I'm going to try a combo of less medicine and more attention to

hydration.

And my doctor emails, in response to " Susie's Bad Day " :

<< Arrrggggh! Quitting it? You may have been hypovolemic (dehydrated), is

why your BP went down so far.... As usual, I'm more than a little worried

about your chest pain.

At any rate, I know you'll be monitoring your BP closely--since your meds

are long-acting, there may be some rebound increase in a day or three, so be

prepared. Please call right away if more chest pain. You do have nitro

tabs, don't you?

Take care, >>

Susie (wishing everybody could have such a cool doctor) :o)

Susie -

So sorry to read that you're ill with food poisoning (and having to endure

hot weather). I do hope that you are feeling better by now (I'm late

reading my emails).
