Guest guest
Hi everyone, Well I went back to my hepatologist last Friday. I had seen him once before, a month ago, following the biopsy report of " consistent with psc " .That's when I joined the group you might remember. It seems the biopsies they took during my cholecystectomy were the " wrong " biopsies !!!! Apparently some sort of long standing " argument " where the surgeons persistently do their own thing, despite repeated requests from the hepatologists and pathologists. Sameol sameol " god complex " thinking it seems to me. A " wedge " biopsy instead of an " oblique, full thickness, bore " biopsy was taken, which showed " non-specific " focal fibroses. My blood workup was also " non-specific " although I have a very raised gammaGT, ALAT and ESR. The hep said 2+2 probably = 4, and that I do have psc, but he cannot be definite. He would recommend another ERCP usually. He did my one and only ERCP, which damned nearly killed me, and a repeat is not an option for either of us. I will NEVER have an ERCP again. I'm now on a waiting list for an MRCP, to see if we can achieve some clarification. I hope the MRCP will eventually be " sophisticated " enough to replace ERCP - especially in the light of its pretty substantial risks. At the ERCP I had no strictures but a dilated choledochus and some dilated ducts. I believs psc can sometimes manifest this way, and of course, I have always to date, presented with atypical symptoms of whatever I've had. I don't know what to think now ! I'll keep you informed. Bye for now, DutchPat.
