It's been thirteen years since I've had my implants

out . . . and I try not to dwell on the problems I had

then . . .

But here's for starters-

muscle/joint pain - multiple physical therapy sessions

mental fog

unable to sequence anything

couldn't do the simplest job correctly

thyroid goiters

scleroderma

multiple chemical sensitivity

chronic sinus problems

spontateous choking

chronic fatigue

substantial hearing loss in one ear

weight gain

balance problems

And yes, denial is a big issue with many of us - I

attribute much of this to the way the medical

professions refuse to acknowledge the issues.

I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibermyegia in Nov. I have

also been tested several times for RA and Lupus. I have arthritis

throughout my body. My joints especially my hands, feet, and knees

turn bright red along with burning sensation. I also have hearing

loss in left ear, vision problems, mind fog, sleep problems, and

chronic sinus problems. I was taking sinus meds every day before

explant and haven't had to since explant. I had also developeed

some wierd allergies that the DR's couldn't explain. I have been

through LOTS of tests and seen LOTS of doctors (Mayo Medical

Center) -- the only thing that makes sense in my implants making me

sick. I too was in denial, but after all the info I found I

couldn't keep my implants in fear of getting worse. I feel blessed

to have found the information about implants. Everytime I would

read someone's story with their symptoms similiar to mine I would

cry. This group gives me lots of support, so keep posting your

concerns. Have you read the FDA implant info yet? You are in my

thoughts.

Hi ,

Here's the rundown on my symptoms:

May 5, 2005 - got implants, noticed immediately a funny feeling in

my arms that ran down to my hands, but thought maybe that was nerve

issues due to having new implants.

May 26, 2005 - lymph nodes started getting sore

June 2005 - mild joint swelling began in fingers, anxiety, fatigue,

foot pain, which changed to shooting pains in feet, which changed to

leg pain, which changed to shooting pains in legs, which changed to

shooting pains throughout my entire body (eventually the shooting

pain thing went away, but it was replaced with what happened in

September)

September 2005 - trouble sleeping, joint swelling suddenly got very

bad and was no longer limited to just my fingers, numbness in finger

tips which continually got worse and became a numb pain under

fingernails, then tips of toes had a numb pain, bone pain in hands.

Suddenly started getting daily headaches in the temples, brain fog,

palpitations, shaking in my sleep, twitching muscles, dizziness.

November 2005 - had my explant

You can find many stories on the webpage under the " Files " link.

Look for the folder that says Implant and Explant stories. We've

got probably 2 dozen women's stories in there.

www.Explantation.com also has a section called " Our stories " where

you can find ladies sharing their explant experience, and some have

photos.

One thing we know for certain....we are definitely not alone and

this is definitely NOT in our heads!

Hey Sis?

How about a little hope for us? Can you give us a month by month breakdown of

how things have improved since explant? ;o) I could use something to look

forward to! because there isn't too many things going right at this point...

P.S. have you started the new job yet?

Christene, one thing you should understand is that it doesn't work

that way - at least not for me. I'm 4 months post-op and still not

feeling well, and from what I understand this is pretty normal.

Everyone is different, some people notice improvement right away,

but for others it takes longer. My immune system took quite a hit

with the implants, and I never had a strong immune system to begin

with, so I'm sure it's going to take me a while to get better.

I'm sorry to hear you're not one of the lucky ones...I was thinking that since

you were able to correlate the symptoms to the implants so quickly and then have

them removed inn such a prompt fashion , that you're recovery would have been

faster as opposed to myself. I've had these dumb things for seven years now...I

wasn't as quick to tie everything together...maybe the silicone went to my

brain?

So how long have you been explanted now and you're still without any

improvement? Are you saying that its almost like your body thinks the implants

are still there?

Christene . . .

Your remark about silicone going to the brain brings

up a serious issue!

It does affect the brain.

Many of us feel that, of all the health problems

brought on my breast implants, what happens to the

brain (cognitive processes, mental fog, memory, brain

farts :), emotional roller coaster, brain lesions) is

even worse than what happens to the body.

I noticed from the first support meetings I attended

that we need to be more patient with each other that

we would other women. We're prone to misinterpet

things, forget what we were told, and for things not

to " sink in " . . . So we repeat, repeat, repeat!

The wonderful part of being part of this group for a

long time is watching women come to the group terribly

confused, depressed, scared and sick - and watch them

find their way back to health. IMHO, it's the best

reward one could ask for!

It really takes ALL of us supporting each other. No

single person could do it all! I'm so glad everyone of

you are here, willing to share your experiences and

knowledge!

God Bless,

Rogene

You'd think it would work that way - where you'd getter better

quicker if you only had them in a short while, but it all depends on

your body. I think it was Patty who had them in 9 months and it

took her 4 years to get better. Then there was Jenna who had them

in a couple of years and within a month she was feeling great. So,

it really is an individual thing. It could be that my body is still

in attack mode or something, or that the toxins from the implants

are still in my body even though the implants are gone. I know some

doctors say it takes about 5 or 6 months to start feeling better,

and I've seen some people posting that it took them about a year to

feel better. If you go into it expecting to be instantly well after

the implants are removed, you'll be disappointed, so just remember

that it can take a while. Plus I haven't done any detoxing because

I'm very sensitive to supplements and herbs, they seem to whack my

hormones out. I'm working with a naturopath to see what I can do in

a gentle manner rather than bombard my body with anything else.

Christene,

I had my implants for only 9 months, but at 18 months post explant,

I still felt very poisoned! It took me over 4 years to actually

feel good again. So, I don't think it is very accurate to correlate

length of implantation with healing time. I think it has more to do

with how out of whack the immune system gets, according to our

already-present toxic load, how quickly our livers are able to clear

toxins (in other words, how well our Phase 1 and Phase 2 detox

pathways work) and how our bodies are able to absorb or utilize

nutrients. Genetic makeup probably comes into play here. Since

everyone is biologically unique, it is hard to estimate how quickly

one will heal.
