hi dj fantastic,

i haven't written in in quite a long time, due to insomnia just as

you describe. I've tried everything under the sun with almost no

positive change in my sleep. No supplement (other than magnesium)

makes a dent on this insomnia (most everything makes it muchmuch

worse), which for me has been going on since the early 90's. I'm

near dead because of it,

and live in an absolute blurr. I feel as though I'm mostly

existing in some other dimension, and once in a blue moon get

enough sleep....5 hours

feels like HEAVEN!!!!....to pop down into earth. What a strange

world it is! I did finally get up the nerve to try coffee enemas,

which I was

scared to try because of extreme coffee sensitivity. They caused

my gut to spasm even more than it usually is (like a boulder), and

gave me lots of back pain

because of this spasming, so I have stopped these. It is

challenging finding anything that my body can handle by way of

detox, but the things that do help are claywater and charcoal

caps. I have these by my bed, and every time I get up to pee in

the night I take more charcoal and clay. This is often helpful to

give me a little more sleep.

One recent thing that I believe may be helping me is Qi Gong.

I've been checking out DVD's from the library, and found one

that's fairly gentle, and I've been going through the routine most

evenings. It seems to be really helping to open up my breathing,

which is definitely part of the sleeping problem (I breathe very

shallowly and haltingly, due to extreme spasming in my gut, neck,

back etc). The DVD that I've been using is:

Qigong for Detox DVD

with Francesco Garripoli and Daisy Lee.

Oxygenating the body has always been a big help for me, and maybe

can help your wife too. Deep breathing is such a basic way to detox,

and for those of us who are too sensitive to handle most other

supplements or therapies, deep breathing always comes up for me as

one of those most important things I can do to improve vitality, and

contribute to detoxing.

Magnesium oil also helps, but no matter how much

I douse myself with, the calming effects still do not last through

the night, and I'm always nearly frozen in paralysis by around 2

or 3 in the morning. Has your wife tried magnesium? it might at

least help her get a little rest, calm her spirit a bit. It does

really help with that for me, and is the one supplement that has

truly made a difference in my pain level.

My heart goes out to your wife, and you too!

with much warmth,

Suzy

I am looking for some help for my wife. She has been

battling severe insomnia caused by neurotoixicity from

Lyme for almost two years. She has tried every OTC option,

Rxs, chinese herbs, acupuncture...you name it. And nothing

has touched it what-so-ever. She recently had a brain map

done and it showed signs of extreme toxicity in her brain.

The doctor's suggestion was detox, detox, detox.

For the past couple of months she has been doing daily

coffee enemas (2 per day for the past 2 weeks), taking

multiple detox drops (burbur, parsley, pinella, sparga),

cholestyramine, daily detox baths (either epsom salts,

this has helped her sleep.

sleep - and that only happens about 3 nights a week. On

the other 4 nights she will get 0-2 broken hours of sleep.

She has far too many nights with not a single second of

sleep. This has been going on for nearly two years.

Has anyone else experienced this severe of insomnia? How

have you found relief? Has anyone dealt with trying to

lower known neurotoxicity? Know of any other detox

techniques?

Any and all help would be much appreciated. The extreme

lack of sleep is really taking it's toll on her physically

and mentally, and we are in desperate need of some help.

Thank you.

the earthing sheets are helpful. I was having woresing sleep even with rx(which I never wanted) but earthing sheet is very helpful. It gives you grounding electrons from the earth(thru 3rd hole in socket), is safe and wonderful. Pads can be used with computers, or just to touch during tv or sitting.Earthing.com. 30day guarantee. different sites but they all seem to have the same pricing and packages. peaceTomTo: Lyme_and_Rife Sent: Tuesday, August 23, 2011 10:37 PMSubject: Extreme Insomnia - neurotoxicity - Suggestions?

Well it might seem rather obvious since neurotoxicity was mentioned, but I have to follow a strict and I mean STRICT gluten and MSG free diet. MSG goes by hundreds of code-names, so you have to be vigilant,I use konjac, clay, near infrared sauna, Epsom salts soaks (take early in the day, they cause restlessness for a few hours in some), oil pulling, Advil for accidental msg ingestion, n-acetyl cysteine, coffee enemas (thanks Lena), and  goodness anything else I can to detox.

An idea for the coffe crmaps etc or to improve detox:

The coffe aenema works in 2 way sstimulate the secretion of gluthation and accelrate the evacuation of the bowel

the gluthation you can take it as supository . I tryed one every evening and there was some good out of it by mouth it is just waiting money

by iv it is a drag and expensive . A very nice Dct told me take whey protein it is a precursor of gluthation . I tryed the best kind and did not notice any difference

but the suppositoty yes alittle bit and little bit by littl ebit it is like a step in a stair you may not see the top of the stair but one step more is good

This info is not for detox, but about clonazepam for sleep.  i was on it for 3+ yrs and it does work for sleep, however it is an addictive/dependency drug from the benzo family, of which xanax, valium and the 'date rape drug' come from.  be so very careful with it.  it will require increasing amounts to get the same results.

it changed who i was to the point where i didn't know who i was anymore, nor did my family.  there are some who don't seem to have a problem with it, or they don't see what it is doing to them.  because of the lyme etc symptoms, i just assumed all the changes in me were lyme related.

when i found out how dangerous it was, from a ND, i decided to go off it.  very slowly tapered to 1/8 mg, and 4 days without it went into seizures/convulsions, catatonic states, flights of ideas (talking disjointed and crazy like), knowing i was dieing, and a $5k er bill.

you can't just go off it by itself, and rehap centers usually won't treat it because of the fear of the seizures.  hospital centers are usually where you have to go if you go that route.  i chose to follow the protocol of T.R.A.P. benzo withdrawal on the net because we have no insurance.  you have to 'crossover' from clon. to valium, replacing equivalent amounts then taper off the valium. can take a yr. from just 1 mg. of clon.  as i was crossing over i went through more convulsions, also--wasn't fun. my husband couldn't leave me alone because i had done some crazy things during the crossover time.  it's fills your gaba receptors, leaving not room for the 'feel good' chemical like serotonin and dopamine.  they say it's harder than coming off heroine.

we had to increase the dose to stabilize me, then slowly decrease it as we increased valium (crossover) and now am just tapering off valium at 10% present dose every 2 wks.  and it is hard for the first 5 days.  sometimes with the decrease, until your brain stabilizes, you feel like you are losing it. it is so scary and it changes your personality.  google benzo withdrawal to view sites that help people get off and read some testimonies.  benzo drug withdrawals are known for their seizures.

i understand insomnia, without drugs i don't sleep either, but just will lay there all night.  i dread the day when i have tapered completely off the valium, yet i grieve more the person i have lost and the pain i put my family through, esp. my husband with it's side effects. but i didn't know about it.  it's crazy stuff.  if you have to have a drug, try something else first, or at least try the valium over the clonazepam.  at least you can just taper off the valium.  plus, these drugs are highly toxic, adding to neuro toxicity.

sorry to be so negative, but what i went through scared me and my family so badly. i was dieing from the seizures and withdrawal.  i am very vocal against it as a warning to others who are considering it.  those who have gone through this, and there are millions in every country, all say the same thing.

if you decide to take it, make certain you have a dr that TRULY understands the with drawl symptoms and challenges.  the pharma reps don't tell them, and many are unaware, so, as with lyme treatments, do your own research so you are educated when you work with your dr.

good luck, i understand the pain of insomnia, and frankly don't know what i'm going to do when i finally get off the valium.  so i am taking notes from those of you who are offering suggestions.

all my best, barbara

Hi All,

These are my TOP choices for easy gentle detoxes and that helped me sleep. The

moor mud really is a god send and affordable and a phenomenal deep detoxer via

baths. I did them daily for years and they helped tremendously.

#1! - Moor Mud Baths:

Where to buy: http://www.torfspa.com/ or google 'moor mud'

Info: http://www.torfspa.com/about_moor.html

You can buy cylinder or large container and add about 1/2 cup to start to a full

hot bath, stir it around to dissolve. It will not clog your pipes. It heavily

detoxes many things from your system out through your skin and will make you

very sleepy so always do them at night. I would do a bath every night if you're

toxic and bad insomnia.

#2: sauna, sauna, sauna. Buy the cheap portable FIR sauna on amazon.com if money

is tight or join a local gym and use their sauna a lot. FIR saunas are best for

detox because they pull out more toxins than dry heat stone saunas.

Ammonia is often the #1 cause of insomnia for lyme people. L-ornithine 3,000mg

on empty stomach helps also l-argenine in a good dose per day--both of these are

known for absorbing ammonia.

Saunas are the BEST ammonia detox method in existence. The more you can sauna

and sweat out the ammonia the better! FIR saunas are best for this.

Other helpful things:

- Epsom Salt baths: Add 1/2 to 1 cups epsom salts to your hot bath water and let

dissolve.

- High intake of vitamin c daily work up slowly (especially with bioflavanoids)

I take at least 10k mg of vitamin c per day. And daily fiber and herb based

bowel cleansers. Always take fibers a few hours away from minerals and vitamin

supplements. I like FiberSmart a lot and also the cleansers and detoxing combos

from here:

http://www.naturesbotanicalpharmacy.com/Herbs.cfm

Their cellular detox bath is also very helpful. Coffee enemas only hit the lower

bowels and do not move the upper GI to cleanse the inner walls, you really want

to use gut fiber and herb cleansers orally to accomplish this more than enemas.

But enemas are helpful too even with just plain water with some sea salt

dissolved in it.

- Juicing raw veggies are also very helpful in detoxing the system.

- If you can handle fruit, green smoothies and juicing beets are also good for

detox. Fruit is very detoxifying esp when blended with leafy greens to make a

green smoothie.

Balancing adrenal and thyroid with raw glandulars is important for gut to move

properly and not be constipated.

Best,

Athena

Best detox for neurotoxicity:

1) kombucha + LOTs of water. Kombucha helps you sleep and helps the liver detox.

2) castor oil packs. Messy but they work.

3) clay packs. Messy but effective

4) Vitamin C in large doses. DO NOT take ascorbic acid; will cause major

gastritis. Use buffered Vit. C as sodium ascorbate instead.

Vitamin C + antibiotics have cured Lyme. Check it out.

5) Like Vitamin C, activated charcoal is a universal detoxifier.

Buy it in bulk and start out with 1 teaspoon in water. Be careful, it's messy

and will stain your carpet and clothes. Do it over a sink.

Hope that helps,

-

Hi I might suggest the chinese herb Lobelia chinensis that helps neutralize toxins also forsythia and honeysuckle assist here as wellHalf hour after taking these then chitosan, pectin ,clays or the like to absorb them in the gut.I dont sleep unless I take a pretty big cocktail of drugs( while looking for a chinese herbal solution).I take 30 mgs of flexeril and 30 mg of mirtazapine, sometimes adding l tryptophan when i cant shut down the brain. If I dont take these I do not sleep except a barely persceptable light doze. One thing I would suggest is to add things like boswellia and turmeric and other anti inflammatory herbs which will help reduce inflammation in the brain and in turn help sleep.magnesium oil also will help relax and reduce inflammation, fish oils also

I find NH4 Redox by Ecological Formulas, L Ornithine, L Aspartate by Allergy

Research, Neuro Antitox II by Jernigan all very helpful for mopping up Ammonia.

When I would have a lot of Nerve pain after coiling aggressively and couldn't

sleep. I would take all of these products and within a half hour or so the

rapid heart beat and the nerve pain in the legs would stop.

The adrenal glands are exhausted.

I would start by avoiding coffee enemas (only make adrenals worse)

Focus your attention on adrenals.

Glandulars, adaptogens, Vit C, B5, phosp serine at ight, st johs wort, GABA

Hi Suzy!

It is so good to hear from you... :-)

Have you tried using Binarual Beat music, Delta wave? I find that using

L-Tryptophan and magnesium oil are very helpful at getting me to sleep,

but once I awaken 4-5 hours later, falling back asleep can be a challenge...

Then I turn on my MP3 player and set the timer for 1 hour and listen

to my Delta wave music, I am usually sleeping in 5 - 10 minutes, sometimes

even quicker.. I also take 3 mg of time released Melatonin before going

to bed and take another 3 mg of Melatonin fast release once I awaken...

These few things seem to really help.

If you would like more info on Binaural Beat music, just let me know and

I will post it for you...

Delta wave music is proven to enduce sleep..

Stop being such a stranger... :-)

Hi Barbara,

I was prescribed Xanax for pain, I found it also helped me sleep better, so I

was on

it for several years... When I tried to end using Xanax, I found I was dependent

Just a comment about taking n-acetyl cysteine. Be sure to get a pure form of

this, and keep it refrigerated after opening. My LLMD has been having NAC

privately checked for purity and most are not NAC but cysteine which can

actually have a deleterious effect. They figured out that it rapidly degrades

after opening.

hiya Jim!

so nice to hear from you too, and as always,

thanks for your kind helping suggestions and big heart!

I've been so down, so sick and stuck, I guess I've just needed

to be with myself quiet for a time. I got to this place where

i felt backed up against a wall with no new ideas, and a lot of

hopelessness.

the insomnia has flattened me, disabled everything about me.

the magnesium is about the best thing I've found, but no matter

how much I swallow, and slather all over me, it still seems to

wear off after about 3 hours,

and I'm back to lying around staring at the ceiling,

near paralyzed with muscle spasms inside and out.

i can barely breathe from the tightness in my gut, back,

diaphragm, ribcage etc,

and guess i'm suffering from daytime/nighttime waking/sleep apnea!

my poor ole digeridoo has been languishing in a corner ever

since we brought home our puppy (who's hair stood on end whenever

I honked on it:)

The binural beat music,,,yes I have some, at your recommendation,

on my mp3 player.

and yes, sometimes it helps,,,but so often, i'm just so spazed

out, toxic, spotlightbrained,

bugs creeppycrawly outmy chinfacearmslegs bellylikeahardROCK,

painall up and down

spineneckeverywhere....You know

the story!!!! We all do here!!!!

I don't detox well at all, and am so toxic. eeek! any time I touch

something that kills bugs

the insomnia flattens me so big I have to stop. I'm currently

again trying MMS. i inch my way up to

2 drops, and always have to stop just to get back to sleeping 2 or

3 hours a night.

Qi Gong. that is currently feeling really good. It's about the

best thing I've found

to help me breathe, and breathing helps all of me feel better!

what a godsend it is!

and all of you too! what a wondrous group you all are! thankyou

for being, and sharing

the way you do. I'm listening with appreciation, to your

collective wisdom and

kind hearts.

warmly,

Suzy

Hi Suzy!

It is so good to hear from you... :-)

Have you tried using Binarual Beat music, Delta wave? I

find that using

L-Tryptophan and magnesium oil are very helpful at getting

me to sleep,

but once I awaken 4-5 hours later, falling back asleep can

be a challenge...

Then I turn on my MP3 player and set the timer for 1 hour

and listen

to my Delta wave music, I am usually sleeping in 5 - 10

minutes, sometimes

even quicker.. I also take 3 mg of time released Melatonin

before going

to bed and take another 3 mg of Melatonin fast release

once I awaken...

These few things seem to really help.

If you would like more info on Binaural Beat music, just

let me know and

I will post it for you...

Delta wave music is proven to enduce sleep..

Stop being such a stranger... :-)

Hello,

These things have helped mw with insomnia/neurotoxity:

1) kombucha - detoxes and helps you sleep

2) activatec charcoal is a universal detosifier. Take 1 teaspoon in water and

build up to 1 tablespoon in water. Be sure to wear an old shirt and drink it

over the sink because activated charcoal is VERY messy and stains clothing and

carpets.

3) Vitamin C is a universal detoxifier in high enough doses. Do not take pure

Vitamin C cyrstals - take sodium ascorbate (buffered vitamin C) instead. Pure

vitamin c (ascorbic acid) will give you gastritis from acid burns.

4) the salt and C treatment is so exhausting that I've found it helps me sleep.

5) make a green drink by whizzing chopped up dandelion greens and grated carrots

in the blender. The dandelion will help the liver detox.

Hope that helps,

I have slept well despite the illness so counted my blessings until... I started

the HPU protocol two months ago and had terrible insomnia for two months. The

past few nights I started sleeping better. Don't fret about the insomnia, it

only makes it worse. Sleep when you can and know that it will pass or improve.

Hi Suzy,

I am curious if you have tried BH4 by Ecological Formulas? I have the Dr.

Cowden Laser Detox Therapy DVDs and a doctor who was presenting on the Amy Yasko

protocol, said that she was so toxic when she went to Dr. Cowden for Laser

Detox, that he said she was too sick and toxic to Detox. She started taking

pharmaceutical BH4 to help with Ammonia problems and she is completely better.

It really turned her problems around. Unfortunately, the only place to get

Pharmaceutical BH4 is from Germany and you must have a prescription for it.

However, there is a homeopathic version made by Ecological Formulas that you

might try. I would also take a lot of Ammonia support products, NH4 Redox by

Ecological Formulas and L Ornithine, L Aspartate work best for me and I have

tried them all because the coil machine really causes a lot of Ammonia problems

due to die off. Anyway if I take enough of these two products I am able to

sleep and the Neurological pain in my legs that tends to keep me awake at night

when I am herxing gets much better allowing me to sleep. I also really love a

product called Slumberease that comes in a little dropper bottle. I put about

1/3 of a dropper full under my tongue and it really helps. I would also

recommend having a NAET treatment on Ammonia, Sulphur and Quinolinic Acid. The

Neuro pain goes away when I clear Ammonia even though it is only temporary. It

might give you a much needed reprieve from pain. Just some thoughts on things

that have helped me. Another thing that has helped me sleep is a small magnetic

pulsing device called the Biomedici. I place it under my pillow at night and it

stimulates the bodies production of Melatonin. It is relatively inexpensive

$150.00 and you can find it at www.magnetictherapycure.com

Take care and hang in there,

Thanks Jim, been on Trazodone, one of the many drs have put me on.  when filing for ss i listed all the drugs i've taken.  filled 3 pages--really.  antidepresants have a lot of side effects (i.e. constipation) and weaken the immune system.  infact, most meds, which are all based on petrochemicals, mess us up one way or another.  i'm through with all of them once i'm done with the valium.

some have been able to get off some benzos with little trouble, didn't know you could crossover to an antidepresant though.  but, for whatever reason, i was one of the ones who can't get off without the seizures/convultions, etc.  it almost killed me and am not willing (nor would my husband consent to--scared him too much) to change right now.

i'm doing ok with this taper, hard, somewhat limiting, but managing and  doing it safely.  so i am just going to have to  stay with this protocol for a few more months.  i am adding supps slowly to see if any problems and so far have been ok by going slowly.

but thank you so much for offering an alternative.  actually, i remember the traz. did help with sleep.  but again, i'm done with pharma except for an emergency.thx barbara
