Guest guest
Way back on 12 June, I wrote to acsnag, because I thought I saw trouble brewing, and wanted to head it off. I initiated a correspondence with him to this effect, with the subject line, " What is you're trying to do? " It should be noted that at the time, I had had no online correspondence with him, good or bad. Hi A. I don't wish to offend you, and I hope you won't feel that I'm attacking you, but I would like to bring something to your attention. You're a new member of the Treehouse, and I get the impression that you're relatively new to the idea of having Asperger's. That you hadn't heard of " perseveration " was one clue, and your misinformation about ABA was another. In the short time you've been with us, you've managed to ruffle a few feathers, and I fear that you will get into an argument with someone about something you don't really understand, and then you or the other person will get upset and leave. It doesn't have to come to that, and I hope it doesn't, because you have much to gain by sticking around and learning from people who have been dealing with these things for a long time. I really hope that you will like hanging out at the Treehouse and will make friends there. So, I want to ask, what is it you're trying to do? Do you want to teach us all how to post correctly, so as not to cause confusion, or impress us with your learning, or make friends, or learn about Asperger's, or what? If I may make a suggestion, I think you should write a bit of an introduction, tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to be diagnosed, whatever you wish to share, and then lay low for awhile, and get to know the people and the issues so that you may then dialogue with us all in a constructive way. I hope you'll take this suggestion in the spirit it was offered. Clay We wrote back and forth three or four times, and I saw it was useless to try to explain things to him, so I stopped. I really don't like to argue, and there seemed no point in continuing the correspondence. What do you say, Ahab, do I have your permission to reprint here your responses to my effort to help you fit in? Clay

Those were private message. You chose to make them that way and it would simply be stupid as well as unethical to print old private conversations to the list. There is no longer any question in my mind regarding my hesitance in giving my name here. The way several people have already unethically copied what I wrote in one place to other places. Thank God I have never met you and will never meet you.

Umm... it's not unethical to do it if he has your permission, which he just asked for. Had he just reposted private email, it would have been unethical. It's not unethical to ask, and it's not unethical to reprint them if he has your permission. > There is no longer any question in my mind regarding my hesitance in > giving my name here. What does that have to do with giving your name?

I didn't think you'd like reprinted your surly responses to what was a genuine effort to help you understand and fit in here. > There is no longer any question in my mind regarding my > hesitance in giving my name here. I don't see that there ever Was a question in your mind about that. All you told us about yourself was your initial was " A " , and I think that was because all you planned to do here was to criticize, complain, and argue with people. > The way several people have already unethically copied what I > wrote in one place to other places. I didn't see anything " copied " here. Paraphrased, maybe. > Thank God I have never met you and will never meet you. Put that in your prayers, bub.
