Guest guest
I approached a manager of a mexican restaurant that we vistit frequently and offered to do the nutritional analysis of their menu. He said he wasn't interested because he didn't want his customers to know that because they might not order some of the dishes anymore! Tamara Frenya, RD Outside work Hello fellow peers! I'm considering going out on my own to local eateries and offering RD services in the way of providing nutrition information for them and their customers on their menu items. The idea is from the fact that many independent restaurants/cafes do not have nutrition information available to its customers like Mc's, 's, etc. do. Has anyone on here done work like that? I'm interested in hearing about your experiences or what your thoughts may be to this idea that I'm having. Thanks in advance! Guest guest
I agree. Ruby Tuesday's had their nutrition facts for every item listed right there on their menu, and it really ended up hurting their business. Last time I went there, they didn't even have their " light " menu options anymore. I DO think it should be available for those who want to know, however. Websites are good sources for that information. Jillian , RD, LD/N " Ortiz, R.D. " wrote: Let's face it - he is telling the truth! Guest guest
hahaha He was definitely right! But A great way to increase his business would've been a response like - " maybe I could modify some of the items to the healthier alternative for the health conscious people " That's a great idea- considering many people are going to these eateries!! Guest guest
Understandable! I was thinking more along the line of cafes (no restaurant chains) especially where they serve specialty coffees and sweets. We have several " healthy " diners in my community. I was thinking of developing a sample brochure or sheet of paper of what their menu's nutritional analysis might look like. I was thinking of charging ~$15/menu item. I know that the going average rate is $20 but I'm a newbie in this business. I see the need for this because I'm tired of going to these places and there's no nutrition information available! Maybe there won't be any business interested in my services but I got to try at least! Has anyone ever gone " door to door " to try sell your services? Or do you find it more successful to do it by mail? Thanks so much! Sherri Kramp, RD/CD >>> jbs6135@... 10/31/2006 8:49 PM >>> I agree.
