Guest guest
I have a patient who is pre-dialysis, so no Medicare yet. Her current insurance offers minimal benefits as it is a Limited Indemnity Plan, not Major Medical. So, basically, she has NO insurance. I verified that she would qualify for Medicare once starting dialysis or getting a transplant, but I am concerned about her having a secondary plan as well. She cannot sign up for a Medicare supplement until having Medicare, correct? She is works for a very small credit union that only offers that Limited Indemnity Plan, so she does not have access to a decent EGHP. I am hesitant to list her for kidney transplant without knowing if she will have any secondary coverage post-transplant. Has anyone else experience anything like this? Any advice/suggestions???
