Guest guest
Hi Elyse Are you still awake? Hope you're sleeping. The insomnia is probably from lack of cortisol still, rather than too much cortisol. I'm not sure how long or how much HC you're taking, but I'm assuming since you're supplementing that you were too low in cortisol before you started. Hopefully as you get used to the HC, your body rhythms will even out. If you're still having trouble getting to sleep, you could try some melatonin. I took it for a couple years. I used to take either the 2mg or 3mg dose, tapering down to 1mg on my last bottle. It worked really really well for helping to get to sleep, as long as I took it very close to the actual time I was going to be shutting off the lights and going to sleep. If I took it too early, like more than 30mins before shutting off the light, the effect seemed to be not present, and I'd have trouble falling asleep. Hopefully you ARE sleeping now. And in the morning Val or or one of the others may be able to be more specific in their advice, with regard to your situation. Sweet dreams! - mk > > I realize I can't sleep at night anymore because of the cortisol and > hopefully it should even out soon. Guest guest
Most likely it is not too much cortisol keep ign you awake, but excess thyroid. I know people that have used Benedryl with success to help them sleep, and I used to keep Alka Seltzer Plus for that purpose and it worked for me. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
OK, do you think I should take any less than what I'm taking now? Today is third day of 5 mg H/C, will take 2.5mg later, and I take 60mg of armour split sublingually into 2 doses . SHould I skip the second dose of armour for now? Alka seltzer plus helps with sleep? I feel like a robot today, I hope I get some sleep even if it's during the day. I'm concerned that after too many day of this I might have a big crash. Guest guest
Are you keeping a temp graph? Take your temp a couple times today. If it is over 98.6 even once, cut the Armour WAY back. If it is running low continue it at the same dose. The ONLY times I have ever seen HC keep people awake is when they have excess T3 and it is being used up. Most people once that is gone sleep like a baby on HC. I know if I wake in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep a nibble of HC and I am asleep in 15 minutes or less. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Val,My temp is low, but I'll check it again later. Do you think I should try taking a little H/C at night even though I haven't been on it long and still working my way up?BTW, I still have a bad headache today. I tired aspirin and AC+C, they're not helping. Lights are really hurting my eyes (which I know has to do with low adrenals). Are you keeping a temp graph? Take your temp a couple times today. Guest guest
As you are having trouble sleeping anyway, it sure can't hurt to try a bedtime dose. Some people NEED it for proper sleep I know I do. With the temps not going high I suspect you need more HC. And possibly increase the Armour tomorrow. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Hi ,OK, I'll try a little H/C tonight if I can't sleep again. I have capsules not tabs, so I'll put a little dab on my finger and then the powder in my mouth. I'll rinse my mouth immediately to avoid any of the potential problems you mentioned and hopefully that will be ok. If I should increase armour tomorrow, by how much and when do you think? I've been trying to read the articles you suggested, but my concentration isn't there yet, I can't get past two paragraphs :-)Elyse As you are having trouble sleeping anyway, it sure can't hurt to try a bedtime dose. Guest guest
I would give it a day or so before the Armour increase. More thyroid will stress the adreanals and yo wnat them WELL supported with the HC before adding in more thyroid. You should also eat a high protein snack at bedtime as well as some sea salt. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
