Dear Terri,

You said:

do have bouts of IBS/diarrhea, but not that often. Well my last day

of Zoloft was at the end of June, and about a week later (and since

then) my bowels have been in an uproar. I get stomach cramps out of

nowhere and have to run to the bathroom. Then I am fine. This can

happen 2-3x's a day or in excess of 6-7x's. I am assuming it is to

do with the Zoloft and maybe part of the detoxing, but just wanted

to ask to see if others are experiencing this when coming off the

anti-depressants???>>

** It's fairly common but it has little to do with detoxing and more to

do with the smooth muscles of the body (bowels are a smooth muscle) which

are profoundly affected by serotonin levels.

All I can tell you is from the time i stopped the paxil, i had loose bowels.

I woldn't call it diarrhea because i didn't have the violent cramps and

nausea that usually go with it, but they were loose to the point of, well,

liquid. It has gradually eased off over the last couple of weeks until now i

am more or less back to normal with it. In fact i think i will be upping my

magnesium dose now :-).

,

Do you still consume dairy products? I hadn't noticed anyone asking you this, and wondered if I missed it... Lactose intolerance looks a lot like IBS.
