Hi Nef,

From my experience, I have found that patients can qualify for Medicare

disability when they list " immuno-compromised " as the reason.

Usually just a diagnosis of cancer is not sufficient to be approved for

disability.

Hope this helps.

experience with pts having cancer and qualifying for Medicare?

Lupus does not automatically qualify a patient for Medicare.

The patient could apply for Social Security Disability and if they are deemed

disabled because of their disease, they would qualify.

I have a patient who had a kidney transplant in 2010. She is not eligible

because she only worked 2 years. When she turns 65, I would assume she would

still not be eligible, correct?

I think if she goes back to work and has enough credits she can get medicare at

65, but it will not cover transplant medications because medicare was not

involved in paying for the transplant.

thats how I understand it

Depends on how old she is now. If

she works and gets enough quarters then she would be eligible for Medicare.
