Guest guest
Sorry I can't help much in this discussion. Only Urso is available in Canada. The same company makes it for both the US and Canada as of two years ago. We had a bit of problem when this company, Axcan Pharma, took over the manufacturing of Urso from another firm. We thought we might end up with a shortage. In view of that, I purchased some extra and then gave to another liver disease sufferer when I had my tx. As mentioned, it was first approved for gall stone disolving. It's use for cholestatic liver disease such as PSC, has never been shown to be of benefit except in lowering LFTs levels. However, it has been used for many years in this way. And some of us feel it has helped reduced the number of episodes and perhaps the severity of cholangitis. I'm sure that, for most people, these two are virtually indistiguishable. There are some people who may not be able to tolerate one but can take the other because of GI upset. Perhaps because of quicker disolution of the product. This could be altered by taking with food, in some cases. Aubrey
