Guest guest
What were the numbers and reference ranges on your thyroid tests? TSH of 0.64 (0.40-5.50), T4 Free of 1.0 (0.8 - 1.8), T3 Free of 268 (230-420) They are all in the Low-Normal Range, but according to this doctor I have a condition called 's Thyroid Syndrome which is diagnosed by the patient having all the symptoms of Hypothyroid, a T3 lower than 300 & low body temperature. He recommended I start very small doses of Cytomel (T3) and also small dose of Hydrocortisone which he believes will help my exhausted Adrenals. Have you heard of this treatment for Adrenal Fatigue? He referred me to a website regarding the 's Thyroid Syndrome & the symtoms do fit. My eyebrows have fallen out, my hair doesn't grow, itching, extreme fatigue, depression, bloating, sudden weight gain, etc., etc. The weird part is that all these things were the opposite in the beginning of my withdrawal. (ie; inability to gain weight, anxiety, insomnia) When I was reluctant to take the Cytomel, he agreed to let me take this supplement (Cytozyme-PT/HPT) that would supposedly help to nourish my pituitary/hypothalamus & repeat the tests in one month. I really did like the doctor & he did believe my story in regards to the SSRI's, but I'm not so sure about his recommendations. Sorry this post is much longer than I realize you have time for! Guest guest
Dear Kendee , I really am not a dr. or anything near it but I have been told by my endocrinologist that the wilsons thyroid condition is a hoax .. there is no validity to it. A dr. named wilson made this up and he is now trying to tell people that they have this when it is not a true disease . I asked him the same things and showed him the pages that I printed out.. I have hashimotos disease.. low thyroid.. I am on armor thyroid ( a more natural one with both t3 and t4 in it ) I have always had a low normal temp all my life and he said there is nothing true about Dr. wilsons theorys.. He sounded like he had done research about this.. I dont want to discourage you AT ALL , just look into it further .. Thanks nne Re: Whose posts have I not answered? I have been researching it, but there does seem to be a lot of controversy as to wether this theory is correct or not. It is hard not to try something that claims that it will make a person feel so much better! It's so frustrating that there are so many different opinions about things! Guest guest
I have always had a low normal temp all my life and he said there is nothing true about Dr. wilsons theorys.. I have had a 97.8 body temp my entire life, too. My mother had the same temp, sometimes a point or two lower. Neither of us have ever been dx'd with thyroid problems nor have we ever exhibited traits of thyroid problems. I once asked an internist about this, maybe 30 years ago, and he laughed saying that 98.6 is normal for some people, and 97.8+/- is normal for others.
