I wish I could find more time to think about raising more money for the foundation. Someday when things calm down I guess!! The Jaycees have taken on CHARGE as a project and held a dinner dance last weekend. During the event Bruce and gave talks, Abby and were present.. and the Jaycees gave Bruce and a check for $10,000. They are planning to make this an anual event raising $15,000 to $20,000 next year. I wanted all of you to know and to thank Bruce and again... We and our kids do thank you... Guest guest Posted April 14, 1999 Report Share Posted April 14, 1999 Hi Everybody, and I want to thank Casey and all of you for your responses to the news about the donation from the Greater Waldorf Jaycees. We have written a quick article for n to include in the CHARGE Accounts regarding last Saturday night. We wish that each of you could have shared in the emotions of the evening. The Waldorf Jaycees went out of their way to make this a very special evening. Please know that every CHARGE family was in our thoughts and hearts as we accepted the check for $10,000 on behalf of the CHARGE Syndrome Foundation, Inc. Four hundred people attended this event. There are now 400 more people who know about CHARGE. The land Jaycees are working very hard along with and I to ensure the success of this program. Every state Jaycee Organization throughout U.S. has been contacted about this program. We are now concentrating our efforts on DE, PA, Michigan, Florida, Ohio and Texas. If you are interested in working with us on this endeavor, please let us know. For those of you who have contacted us we appreciate your willingness to assist us. We will be in touch. I know it seems like things are not moving very quickly but there is a lot of action going on behind the scenes in order to get us to the point where we are ready for families to go out and speak about CHARGE. To think this program was just adopted by the land Jaycees in May last year and it has already been adopted nationally by the U.S. Jaycees. The success of the CHARGE Program would not be possible if it were not for the wonderful individuals who are willing to give up their time to chair projects like the Big Five Event. We are very glad to call these individuals our friends. Just recently three land Jaycee Chapter Presidents visited the US Jaycees headquarters in Tulsa for a Chapter President's summit. These three presidents distributed 150 copies of a letter we had written about the CHARGE Syndrome Program and distributed a copy of the CHARGE brochure to each of the other State Presidents that were attending. The word is spreading. We will keep you updated on how things are going. Hopefully next year other CHARGE families will be able to join us at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Big Five Event. (The Chairmen, Robin and Tommy Adkins, will hopefully be in Houston.) Stop by the land Jaycees CHARGE Syndrome Program table in Houston.
