Guest guest
No, I can't afford it right now. My temps do flucuate more than a full degree throughout the day though and I tried and failed the flashlight test. > > Have you had your cortisol levels tested? > > -- > Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV > My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations > The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ >

Guest guest
Corrine (sorry if misspelled) The Buffalo hump is a symptoms of only one thing I can think of, LONG term high Cortisol. And ti would be quite high to cause that. I would be afraid to recommend any steroids for you until you have actual testing done for cortisol levels as if you take more it would become worse as well as other high cortisol symptoms usually related to Cushings Disease. The possibility here is too great to risk further endangering your health. And I am not one that is afraid to recommend steroids when I feel people need them. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
>>also had low end of normal sodium and high end of normal potassium on my blood test. << This you can safely treat with Sea salt without endangering yourself. I would do a Google search for Celtic Sea Salt. You want the gray variety unprocessed. I would take 1/4 to 1/2 tsp in oj or water twice a day. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
so should I discontinue the isocort until I can get cortisol tested? Already got the sea salt per your reccomendation , it's ugly (cuz it's gray) but it tastes great! Very easy to take in OJ or tomato juice or just with water. > > Corrine (sorry if misspelled) The Buffalo hump is a symptoms of only one > thing I can think of, LONG term high Cortisol. Guest guest
I had read the high cortisol thing too, and I have some of the symptoms...like all my weight gain is in my stomach/chest/face, lol my legs look like they belong on someone half my size! Also the facial hair (chin and neck, coarse and thick, and I'm blonde), but when I raised my armour dose by 1/2 grain it felt like it stopped working...and when I started the isocort I felt great again, in fact better than when I first started the armour. Still do! For sure I have chronic stress...and it's chronic stress that I can't just put an end to, I just need to learn to live with. Still do! Guest guest
It is probably OK to continue where you are with the Isocort but DO get testing done ASAP. And that stress you can't put an end to? It WILL end your life as you know it if you are becoming Cushingoid from it! -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Hubby has MS...we never know what's going to happen tomorrow...could be crippled could be fine-could change from relapse/remitting to chronic progressive resulting in death...that and he has diabetes, and low thyroid (just found that) and high cholesterol-and I'm raising a teenager and having my own health problems. Now that's without even beginning to address financial issues. I really don't sweat the small stuff, just have lots of big stuff. I'm only 32, and sometime feel 132. > > It is probably OK to continue where you are with the Isocort but DO get > testing done ASAP. And that stress you can't put an end to? Guest guest
Do the best you can for yourself. Find things that make you laugh it is very therapeutic! take time for YOU. These are things you can do in any situation. Ask for help if you need it.. welfare is NOT pleasant, but I have gone there when needed, and it did help. And for anytime you need someone to just chat with, email me... -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Thank you...laughter definately helps, that's why I have 4 dogs (two of them basset hounds) they always make me laugh. Since starting the armour and the isocort life has been much easier to deal with. Stress has not been as bad either-when you don't do anything but walk from your bed to your couch the " little things " tend to stack up! Also, thinking you're crazy because you've been told you have clinical depression, but anti-deps make you feel just as bad or worse, being told it's anxiety disorder-and the meds just make you less stressed about sleeping all day-dx'd with ADD and prescribed Adderall...which makes you jumpy and stressed, lol...it's such a relief to have found thyroid, and have to treatment actually make a difference!! (Oh I left out PCOS diagnosis, endometriosis, infertility, insulin resistance...the list goes on and on!) > > Do the best you can for yourself. Guest guest
LOL, I felt like I was headed to the nuthouse myself. Just a couple of weeks before I found you guys I actually had my husband call an in- paitent treatment center for depression. Thought since NOTHING was working it must be a character flaw. Guess I can sell all these " self-help " books now! > > Well over teh TOO many years I ahve had all those diagnosis and MORE > except PECOS. So you sure ain't alone! Guest guest
Wanted to run this by you Val, see if it sounds possible, though I know no one can really say until I get the cortisol testing done, which hopefully I can do next month. I have symptoms of both low and high cortisol and had read somewhere about low morning cortisol and high midnight cortisol causing a specific type of insomnia, Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome which totally matched what mine was. My hours were reversed so that my body wanted to sleep from about 4 am to 12 noon. I would stay up all night to try to correct the problem but even after being awake all that time still couldn't get to sleep until 3-4am, or I would fall asleep at a normal hour and wake up 12-1am and be up until after 4. I found an artical on changing your circadian rhythm for insomnia that has you push your sleeping schedule forward 3 hours a day every day until you normalize your schedule, which I did, and it did help. The armour made a difference too, and the isocort has really helped. Do you think it's possible that I could be overproducing cortisol at night and underproducing it during the day--explaining why I have symptoms for both, and feel so much better now that I'm taking the isocort? Just a thought. > > Well over teh TOO many years I ahve had all those diagnosis and MORE > except PECOS. So you sure ain't alone! In fact it is one of the stages of adrenal fatigue cause by weak adrenals. What happens is you need the highest cortisol in the mornings to get you awake and to fill your energy needs for the day, so your pituitary puts out alot od ACTH to get that goign, but with weakened adrenals thye can't put oput enough cortisol, so the ACTH stays high just whipping your adrenals for more cortiosl, still they can;t preduce enough, so ACTH stays abnormally hignh into the evening hourse the the adrenals sputter out all they have which by THEN is much mre than you need for that time of day, leaving you stressed and wakeful and poor sleep that night. This cycle continues till the adrenals completely burn out. Before they burn out if you take cortisol (HC or Isocort) in the mornings the pituitary senses enough cortisol so stops production of ACTH then your body can resume a normal rythym of higher cortisol in the mornings and lower to almost none at night and you will sleep better. This is why I always tell people to taper from the highest dose of HC in the mornings to lower throughout the day. that i your normal cortisol rythym. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Makes perfect sense! Thank you (again!) BTW...I cleaned my living room yesterday, all the way, walls, baseboards, ceiling fan, dusted. Been a long, long time since I was able to do that. I can't even say how grateful I am to be feeling better, thanks to you guys. > > >> Do > you think it's possible that I could be overproducing cortisol at > night and under producing it during the day--explaining why I have > symptoms for both, and feel so much better now that I'm taking the > Isocort? << > > Yes this is very possible.
