It's like the carb questions. Many professional don't agree with the experiences of diabetics. I'm 100% sure that there are such side-effects of tablets as metformin. I have had diabetes years before it was discovered, but this started exactly from the day I started with these tablets. I just have never heard it mentioned. Have you read all the medication information about it at http://www.rxlist.com? But there is the phenomenon of performance anxiety as well. It is human nature to change a routine (in this case, beginning a new medication), experience some other symptom, and assume it's the new pill that is the cause. Tension and worry that you will continue to experience problems can actually cause continuing problems too. , did I miss your post about your HbA1c reading? I still haven't seen it. Many now believe that is not the pill that causes the ED but the lower BGs caused by the pill. Many swear that a glass of juice on the bedside table works wonders. It is worth a try. But since I started the tratment with the tablets I've often felt dizzy and almost every time, when I then measure the bg it is low. So it may be the tablets that are causing both the dizzines and etc.. - Thank you! We learn a lot on this list. Regarding blood pressure It's a little bit to high, wherefore I am being treated for that as well now. But it's only because I suffers from diabetes. Something is certainly out of balance, but that's the case with all of us, more or less. I don't know the reason for these low bg's. They may be related to something else. But I don't think so much about it. I think that if a person wants to be sick, and in his/her thoughts are thinking about illness all the time, then illness will come? - I would certainly like to know the reason to this. But again, I don't think that much about it - just try to get something good out of every day. I know that it's not normal that people on metformin get low bg's. I've read that. It's difficult to find out what's causing the problem. It's not, as a rule, supposed to give you lows, but other factors can be involved which will cause it. I've had 3 verifiable lows (which were'nt really all that low) and I think I know what caused them. They were 61, 64, and 67. Not on the same day either. I believe it was because I didn't pay attention to eating and was doing some heavy manual labor (not my style) tarring our new foundation and digging holes for cement pilings. I was possibly not getting enough liquid either. Since I've made sure to eat and drink when I should I have not had any lows. I even went two days without eating since (liquid only) for a test, and only got down in the 80's, so it probably was the liquid that I was lacking that caused it. Of course, our bodies are all different.
