Subject: Re: [HC] Please read - - Take 5 Minutes to Save a Life Dear All: Another lesser known but just as important need is to be a bone marrow donor. Be The Match is the National Marrow Registry program. Often people only learn about it when they or their loved one is in desperate need. But we can all participate, simply and without cost, by swabbing a cheek sample and sending it in the mailer they provide. Ethnic and racial minorities are particularly at risk for not having a donor identified, and unlike organs, bone marrow matching is very precise. Out of 8 million donors, only 2 matched a child in my care, and 1 was in Germany. If selected, it is as simple as a blood donation. As a health disparity effort, please join Be The Match! www.marrow.org Thank you, Jennie McLaurin Jennie A.
