Guest guest
patti (and everyone else writing to this special lady), although i do think i understand what you've tried to say, and my heart goes out to you at your loss... and at the risk of offending you (but i sincerely hope not!), i would like to come to God's defense, if i may... because i really don't think your issue (or exception, or argument, or whatever you choose to call it) is " with " God, per se. i read a devotional the other day, with a focus on Luke 13:14 ( " And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. " ), along with the following appropos commentary (which makes my point much better than i can): " Religion is dangerous. " Religion " would rather debate " about " healing than to SEE somebody healed. Religion would rather argue about deliverance than see somebody set free. Remember that, if someone tries to get you sidetracked into a religious debate about healing or deliverance. If someone needs (healing), just DO it! That's the difference between religion and the love of God: religion argues, but love acts. Choose love today! " with kind regards (and love), maureen Re: some more stuff and then I'll be finished yeah, it's nice stuff, not all full of reference to God or anything, which I think would be hard to listen to at a time like this...I personally never found any comfort in my religion when I've lost people...I loved the Indian one also....these poems were on a beautiful picture of a sunset that Mark himself had taken...... Guest guest
point taken, sorry, my personal opinion and point was that I was having a hard time with my faith during this difficult time and was looking I guess for sounding boards, and some food for my soul....I come from a very religious family, my mother and I have these discussions alot, 'God' is the first to be praised when something good happens and the first to be doubted when something bad happens........you won't hear me mention my bewilderment with life or death again nor will you hear me mention the 'G' word... subject closed Patti > >Reply-To: >To: < > >Subject: RE: patti et al... >Date: Wed, 28 Feb 2001 20:29:25 -0800 > >patti (and everyone else writing to this special lady), although i do think >i understand what you've tried to say, and my heart goes out to you at your >loss... and at the risk of offending you (but i sincerely hope not!), i >would like to come to God's defense, if i may... because i really don't >think your issue (or exception, or argument, or whatever you choose to call >it) is " with " God, per se. i read a devotional the other day, with a focus >on Luke 13:14 ( " And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, >because Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, >There >are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be >healed, and not on the sabbath day. Guest guest
IMHO, in times of doubt, you have to remember how and why they call it "FAITH". "Faith is like a radar that sees through the fog -- the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see" So when someone dies, we have to hold on to faith. We don't know the why, but God does. Barb
