Guest guest
We do not accept self pay patients. Unless they are outrageously wealthy we would be setting them up for failure. 1 year of meds and visits plus possible inpatient admissions is pretty unrealistic when the patient would have to come up with this money on a yearly basis for the life of the kidney or whatever organ Whitney Folsom, TFC ETMC Transplant Program 1100 E Lake St ste 340 Tyler, TX 75701 phone fax wlfolsom@... >>> lmk276 3/31/2011 7:35 AM >>> Good morning, Has anyone ever had a liver transplant patient who was self-pay? What was/is your facility's policy on self-pay transplant patients? How is the follow up MD visits handled? Does the patients' accounts get adjusted or are they required to pay as part of a self-pay agreement? Any insight is greatly appreciated!! Guest guest
We have had one self pay liver patient two years ago. We required the evaluation cost up front, proof of funds in a fundraising account prior to listing and payment in full at time of transplant. We also required proof of funds for immuno’s for five years in the fundraising account. So far, we have not had any issues with him. Guest guest
He had $850,000 in his fundraising account. We gave him a 30% discount for being a self-pay patient for the actual transplant.
