Guest guest
I went yesterday to see my new Rheumatologist. My husband was even pleased with him and that is saying a lot. after 2 years of Dr's telling me I had osteoporosis despite what my bone density test said, the 2 broken bones in my backs says that I do. So finally he put me on Fosamax. Ya'll say a prayer that I can take. I have heard horror stories about taking and keeping this med down. He said, he didn't think I had RA but did a bunch of blood test and x-rays too. He said he felt like my problems were coming from my back and the fibro, DDD and osteo. So for right now that is pretty much all I know. But at least maybe that is a start. I know there are some of you with RA and I have a close friend with it. I mostly wanted to catch it early if I did have. so far I think everything else they has tested me for I have had. I see what the RA has done to my friend and I sure don't want that on top of my other problems if I can do something to slow it down. Hope all of you have a good day and your pain levels are low. We have storms moving in here so it is not looking to favorable here. May God Bless you all, Jena
Guest guest
Jena, Are you saying you don't have osteoporosis? I'm sorry, my brain isn't comprehending very well this morning, It's early lol. Wait, maybe you do have osteo since he put you on the med? I'm confused. lol Sorry! It's good that you may not have RA and we know that only blood tests can confirm that, right? Ok, he said he doesn't " think " you have RA. That is one ugly disease. I pray you don't have it either. I've had friends with it and it's not pretty at all. Very painful and not a lot they can do for the pain. I mean, nothing that totally eases it. Hope you have a nice, low pain day! Hugs. Guest guest
LOL Tommie your email sounds just like me. My bone density test 2 years ago when I did the 2nd fracture that I DID NOT have osteo. At that point all the Dr's agreed that the test was wrong. but because the test said I didn't none of the Dr.s would step out and give me anything for the osteo. Hope that make sense. Also last year I think it was when I went to that nutty Rheumatologist. He confirmed the Fibro and my Blood Test came back positive at that time. but he said it could give a false positive. So, he gave me prednisone to see if it help my symptoms and said if it helped it was RA if it didn't it was Fibro as the symptoms of Fibro and RA can be so much a like at times. I went back to see him one time during a flare. and he sit there and everything I said, he would say Fibro. I honestly think if I told him I had a ice chip growing on my fingernail he would have said Fibro. Needless to say I haven't been back to him The last couple of epidurals or blocks I have had has helped everything except my back pain. Improved my hand function, my feet didn't hurt as bad. just little things like that. So, Dr. Lee my Pain Management and Spine Specialist suggested that I see a Rheumatologist again. So, I call my medical Dr and ask her to set me up with someone. So she did. I put off the first appt as my back had been giving me fits so I had 2 epidurals thoracic and lumbar. this is when I notice some of my symptoms were better that it really should not affected. But Dr. Lee said if these areas were inflamed like from RA the steroids he put in my back would help it as much if not more than steroids taken by mouth. Hope this makes some kind of sense. Guest guest
Jena, I think my fogginess is not as bad this morning. I actually understood all of this!! lol Yaay!! <clapclap> lol So we can't depend on lab tests or scans. Hmmm what good are docs? They guess as much as we do. But they are supposed to be able to give us an EDUCATED opinion! Or is it a guess? lol I think it's an educated guess to tell the truth! They just know the terminology, we know the symptoms. As we feel them every darn day!! I wish I had a magic wand, maybe if they HAD our symptoms, then they could put their education to work!! Ya think? lol So, what ever you have, I hope they can put a firm name to it so you know you aren't crazy AND they can give you adequate treatment! Good luck with the medical " professionals " . I had planned to really put myself through it on Mon and Tues. but I was not able due to the Weekend. my new Rheumatologist I went yesterday to see my new Rheumatologist.
