I think it's the " present and accounted for " factor at work here. Boone really does not acknowledge other humans and the stims/obsessions etc., are still very prevalent. > What are the other differences between them on the diagnostic scale? They are both potty-trained, etc....and Boone FAR surpasses in terms of creative ability, art and imagination. Guest guest
-Sissi, It really does show he's made a lot of progress. I wonder why they didnt put goals on their like " He will state his name " " and other stuff they saw as deficiets. It doesnt seem like this teacher is awfully competent. You should give credit to yourself and Boone for all his progress. Thea -- In parenting_autism@y..., nitetrax@i... wrote: > I updated Boone's IEP page. Guest guest
-- lisa, Is it hooked up to your computer? I have one that sat in a box until I got over my fear of installing it. 's IEP is about 20 pages long too. I heard from a friend at work, who has a friend thats a PT, that the goals often come from some type of book and that theyre copied without much thought. So, if the child isnt good with " wh " questions they might say " child will be able to answer wh questions- 90 or 80 % or 4/5 trials " However theyre not always specific about which " wh " questions and how they plan to do it. His kindergarten teacher had some really good stuff like " will answer complex questions about people and events in his environment " he knew how to answer " wh " questions so it was made functional. His creepy teacher from last year just wrote out goals which were either recopied or from some type of checklist, with no thought as to whether these are important for him. We are not even going by his IEP because he mastered most of the goals in it, that creepo wrote. Guest guest
he gets speech at school, but that's it. We provide private OT and private speech and I use respite funding to pay to come to the house -- who isn't really a real therapist but is wonderful with him. We do Judevine ABA at home, but that's only an hour a day total. His age ranges aren't so far away from 's, aside from speech (eric is within the 3.5 - 5yr range), and is considered high-functioning! I don't know, Jacquie, but according to the CARS test Putter is still severely autistic. I think CARS needs a wider range, but it is a highly thought of test. Guest guest
--- The CARS is a highly respected test, but, it is narrow. I think scored under 30 a few times, no matter how I did it. I mean things like age appropriate imitation, it doesnt measure how often the person imitates. on the speech and language, the same thing, its not really precise.
