I remember when we finally decided to go ahead and pursue the tr after a good 9 months of discussing it. I am very happy for you. I didn't plan to tell my parents either, but my situation was different in a way. My mom and I have never been real close, but in the past 6-7 years or so, we have become much closer. Well, once we decided to go ahead with the tr, every time I would talk to her, I felt like I was keeping something from her. Mostly, I realize now, what I wanted was her blessing and support. So, one day we were on the phone and I said, " Mom, can I please tell you about something that is very important to me without you telling me I am making the wrong decision? " She listened, and was good at first about not being negative, but that didn't last long. For the next few months all I got was the guilt trip - " You already have 3, that is enough, how will you afford another one, day care for an infant is so expensive, etc. " She and I went round and round about it, with my feelings getting hurt every time. I wasn't asking for 100% optimism, just not negativity. I just had my tr last Monday, and she is finally coming around...I guess all she needed was some space and time to work it out herself. She's still not gung-ho, mind you, but she was definitely concerned during the surgery and even now that I am home and recuperating. I know when she holds that new grandbaby, she will change her tune! They were the same way, my parents that is, when I was pregnant with my middle daughter - her father was black, and that just was not acceptable to them. I have never seen two people change so dramatically the day she was born!!! She is their angel now, and they would not trade her for the world. Just give your parents a chance to digest it all when you do end up telling them, and try not to be hurt if they don't respond in exactly the way you envision. I don't care what I have as long as it is healthy. I am glad he has decided to do this with me.... It will be so much easier on you to have the support of your family. My mother was really hateful when I told her I wanted to have another baby. She's always hateful, but it helps me to be a better mother, because I just do the exact opposite of what she would do! I'm really happy for you. I can't help but giggle with your post..I didn't tell my family about our tr either..I don't want to hear the " Are you crazy " speeches...I will just tell them when I get pregnant too and I thought about just saying Oops...I did it again...LOL like the song...
