Guest guest
Hello all, This is a pretty basic procedure coding question, but the first time it's come up for me --- I billed a private insurer for removal of multiple skin tags (which I did via cryotherapy) CPT 11200, and it was rejected due to " This procedure is normally performed for cosmetic purposes. " The EOB doesn't say the patient is responsible, just that it's denied. Another CPT I should use? I can add an addendum to my chart note re the fact that these skin tags were irritated so that there is some medical indication (not just cosmetic) for removing them, but I'm still not sure which CPT code to use.
