Guest guest
basically a multi vitamin. Some links mention copper as well, and I don't like it. Too much copper could be dangerous. and if it is " only " a MVit why it has to be prescribed? and how come we never heard better promotion? Check the links. Very vague, broad and un-useful info. http://www.healthtouch.com/bin/EContent_HT/dnoteShowLfts.asp?fname=05297 & title=P\ rotect+Plus+NR+%28Oral%29%2C+See+%7CVITAMIN%2FMINERAL%2FNUTRICEUTICAL+COMBINATIO\ N+%28Oral%29+%28Tablet%29+%7C+ & cid=HTDRUG<http://www.healthtouch.com/bin/EConten\ t_HT/dnoteShowLfts.asp?fname=05297 & title=Protect+Plus+NR+%28Oral%29%2C+See+%7CVI\ TAMIN%2FMINERAL%2FNUTRICEUTICAL+COMBINATION+%28Oral%29+%28Tablet%29+%7C+ & cid=HTD\ RUG> http://www.twydil.com/en-twyd/tools2/5.app/fr4prot.htm<http://www.twydil.com/en-\ twyd/tools2/5.app/fr4prot.htm> (this link is for Protect Plus, without the NR, which is scary - is still a multi vit but for horses. However it is " twydil protect plus, so I hope ( and most likely) it not the same. http://aolsvc.health.webmd.aol.com/drugs/drug-22607-Protect+Plus+NR+Oral.aspx?dr\ ugid=22607 & drugname=Protect+Plus+NR+Oral<http://aolsvc.health.webmd.aol.com/drug\ s/drug-22607-Protect+Plus+NR+Oral.aspx?drugid=22607 & drugname=Protect+Plus+NR+Ora\ l> http://aolsvc.health.webmd.aol.com/drugs/drug-22607-Protect+Plus+NR+Oral.aspx?dr\ ugid=22607 & drugname=Protect+Plus+NR+Oral & pagenumber=4<http://aolsvc.health.webmd\ ..aol.com/drugs/drug-22607-Protect+Plus+NR+Oral.aspx?drugid=22607 & drugname=Protec\ t+Plus+NR+Oral & pagenumber=4> and if you do a Google search you get this page: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & q=PROTECT+PLUS+NR & btnG=Google+Search<http://w\ ww.google.com/search?hl=en & q=PROTECT+PLUS+NR & btnG=Google+Search> the forth link suppose to have all the info but it's not accessible. Also, if you go to FDA website - it is not listed. I did a search in all FDA website as well as under medications and found " nada " . Something doesn't smell right. In one of the above links (I think the first one) it seems like it is another company that sells it but it supposedly similar to Centrum Silver, which brings, again, the question, why it is not OTC like Centrum? Hope that helps Vitamin supplements Has anyone heard of PROTECT PLUS NR CAPSULES ? they're either a red or brown soft gel cap resembling a bean according to my mother. She was just prescribed this vitamin by her MD, and it seems it is not OTC as she had a prescription and it was dispensed from a large bottle into the smaller one with a label. Since there's no original bottle or label it's difficult to look it up. I've been trying searches this afternoon and have not gotten any hits. My parents believe it was prescribed to improve my mother's appetite. The name in caps above came from the email my father sent me and is copied by him from the pharmacy label. My mother already takes multiple meds and each MD prescribes another and another for every complaint. She sees a doc almost every week bc at 89 she's frail and doesn't " feel good " , lacks energy and has a poor appetite. My father, 90, worries, and so goes with her to the doc, but often different ones, depending on who can see her when they arrive, or who he thinks is the appropriate one for the situation or complaint. (This is one of the many things I'm facing right now, bc they need someone to manage their healthcare, but I live in CA, they live in Puerto Rico, and we have decided (I decided, informed my nephew who agreed, and then I told my brother that's the way it's going to be) that they will remain at home, living independently, as long as possible. Every year it gets a little worse.) Guest guest
I'm thinking that maybe it's Rx only bc it contains a higher than safe dose of the fat solubles. And my mother already takes lots of those prescribed by my father who is a firm believer he's lived to be 90 and she 89 bc of all the vitamins they take. Thanks for all the links. I was having difficulty finding any using Google.
