If a donor has complication and does not have Pharmacy coverage our facility will cover the cost.We have a fund setup for short term.

Hi Camille,The facility is responsible for “technical” services for donors with compilations. This would include pain medications. Like many things in Medicare there is no regulation that states that the facility is responsible for drugs specifically. Can I ask you a more specific question along the same lines:

Patient (Donor) is being seen by the surgeon in an outpatient setting

1yr post op, and his pain IS related to the donation. Surgeon

prescribe pain meds, should the FACILITY still be responsible for

paying for the meds even though patients is being treated in an out pt

setting?
