My doc wanted to see me twice a year until this last year, when he said come

back in a year. I think that might be a little too long.

I go to the GI clinic in Chapel Hill every three months, but I'm planning on changing that. It's such a long drive just for the doctor to just do blood work and push on my liver. My GI doctor has my GP handling my meds, so why can't I just go to him for the blood work and have it faxed to doctor in Chapel Hill. That is as long as I'm not having any problems.

That is what I would like to do - maybe I can ask if maybe I could go every 6 months or each year and just have the lab sent to them. My hep doc is doing the meds but all they usually do is look at me (like you) so hopefully we can work that out.

Thanks to everyone who has responded - looks like I see my doc a whole more often than most patients. Doesn't make much sense since the doctor is usually overbooked - they are in the process of trying to find another hepatologist which would help lots. Maybe they just want to see my pretty face in their clinic. lol

Hope you all have a great evening

Blessings,

Barby

PS - Maureen, I did my random act of kindness today. :)

Barby - I started every three months ( " liver guy " GI), then went to 6. I'll

see what he says in May, though.

Beverly said, " It's such a long drive just for the doctor to just do

Is there something wrong with the medical care I am getting? No doctor

has tried to feel my liver in over two years. When I see my GI doctor,

he never touches me at all. I assume he touched my abdomen during my one

and only ERCP when he diagnosed me with PSC two years ago. If not, no

doctor has tried to feel my liver in over 3 years.

margie, if i were you (stubborn, proactive irish woman that i am!), then at

your next doctor appointment, i would ASK him WHY in 3 years' time he has

not once palpated your liver.

fighting words? not necessarily. as the patient, you are entitled to an

answer if you have a question, n'est-ce pas? i'm as curious as HECK to

learn his answer to THAT question!

all the best,

maureen

p.s. " I guess he feels simply reviewing my blood test results, looking at me

in general, and listening to me talk are adequate " ....what about answering

your questions??????
