Guest guest
i know in Ma. they just announced a " new " feature to 911. If a caller is unable to speak for any reason i.e. a medical, prowler, domestic etc. they can call 911 and when a 911 operator answers all they need to do is press 1-for police 2-fire 3-ems. then on the 911 console it will automatically appear w/ the callers address and what service they need. obviously this is an excellant idea for medicals, but for anyone who has this feature, what is your response policy to this type of call when the caller has indicated they need police??? i mean you do not really know what type of call you have, it could be a fight, domestic, or worse a rape in progress or something. Obviously we try not to dispatch our officers to a potentially dangerous situation unless we have as much info as we can. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience w/ this type of system. Also as a side note, i noticed Ma. has not publicised this feature very much. M. Goldman Pelham Police Dept. Pelham N.H. Disp-48 " These are my own opinions and not my employers.
