My name is Patty and I have the surgery last October. I had never met Dr.

Levin either until the date of my surgery and he is wonderful. The whole

experience was great. Dr Levin and his staff keep you informed of everything

they do or going to do. I was never in the dark. The hotel is wonderful

also, and the nursing staff on the 2nd floor are a huge help. Hope

located.i am looking to have a tubal reversal, i just havent got the funds right

now.i recently got married well on august 12 almost a year but we have been

together 6 years i have 4 children from previous but i had my tubes tied

thinking there would never be another man in my life well my ex more or less

talked me in to it...I hope something will work out for me soon,,,,do you know

of any kind of programs or anything that helps with this....are you having the

reversal done if you dont mind me asking or is it something similar.good luck to

He is in Louisville, KY. Are you thinking of using him? I wholeheartedly urge

you to do so, he is a wonderful and caring doctor, and I haven't even met him

face-to-face yet! But during my phone consult, he was so very patient and kind,

and never made me feel rushed or silly for asking so many questions. I believe

he truly does care about his patients.

What I am having done is the reversal, yes. What we did was enroll in Dr.

Levin's prepayment program. I thought at first that it may actually take the

full 2 years to pay it off, but we started paying on it in January and had it

paid off by mid-April, I think. Isn't that sad, I can't remember exactly!

Anyway, we were fortunate that the timing was right - we had both gotten

Christmas bonuses, and raises during that time, and we sent most of the

Christmas bonus money as well as our entire tax refund to Dr. Levin. We cut

corners at home and managed to send every spare dollar to help pay it off. At

one point, before we began his prepayment plan, we had pretty well decided it

would take us too long to get the funds together and gave up on the idea of a

reversal for a couple of months. Then one night we were in Wal Mart, and my

husband took our 2 year old to the potty, so I said I would wait right there

until they got back...well, I turned around and realized I was standing right by

the newborn sleepers, and my heart just broke. Imagine it, I was standing in

the middle of Wal Mart crying! We talked a little about it on the way home, and

by the next morning, I had worked out the budget to where we could afford it.

What surprised me the most was when I told my husband I had figured it out, he

said " Thank God, because I had no idea how I was going to convince you that we

could afford it! " Shortly thereafter, we signed our prepayment contract!

If it is something you want with your heart and soul, you will find a way to

afford it. You can borrow money from a 401k plan at work for medical expenses

without penalty, put it on a credit card, or apply for a loan. Or, I recommend

the prepayment plan, too. Me being the most impatient person in the world, I

didn't want to wait that long, but I am so glad now that I decided to go ahead

and do it. It goes faster than you think at times, and you can do like we did

and send extra whenever you have it. I wish you the best in pursuing your

dreams...believe me, they do come true. I have faith that this is what God

meant for me to be doing. I was born to be a mom, and I love doing it.

I used 2 credit cards to pay Dr Levin then consolidated all my bills with a

2nd mortgage on the house, so I tax wrote off the medical expenses and now I

tax write off the 2nd mortgage interest.

We leave tomorrow (gasp!) and the surgery is on Monday. Gosh, I thought I would

never get to the point where I could say that!!! I will be taking the laptop

with me so I can post after surgery and let everyone know how it went.

I had my tr done in Jan. of 2000 and my insurance DID cover is believe it or

not! They covered 90%! I still had to pay Dr. Levin up front and wait for

reimbursement though.

I have United Health Care in Ohio. My plan is through work and is the best plan

I have come across. It covers just about everything with my pregnancy too! I

don't even have to pay my co-pay. I know, it is VERY unusual for a work based

health care plan.

I know it is difficult. As I said I still had to pre-pay Dr. Levin's office.

We had to max out a credit card and wait (and pray) for the insurance company to

come through.

It is easier said than done, but be patient and carefully look at your options.

Check out the pre-payment plan, perhaps it could work for you. I had my husband

to be the rational one or else I would have " sold the farm " to get the surgery

done. : )

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. My husband and I have this thing where it

seems we always feel opposite of each other - like if he is worried, I am not,

or if I am nervous, he isn't. Funny thing is, he has just become Mr. Nerves and

sent me an e-mail list of last minute things to do...#13 on the list is " Freak

out some more! " I was rolling laughing!!! Now I am not nervous at all!!!

I am sure everything thing will be fine. Dr. Levin and his staff are very

nice. Even the staff at the Jewish Inn (if you plan to stay there for a few

days) are in tune with Dr. Levin's patients and will assist you while you

are staying there. Good luck with your surgery. I am sure there are
