From: Melinda Coulter Date: Mon, 8 Dec 2003 15:08:40 -0500Good afternoon! We are sharing some more exciting info with you and ask for your feedbackby January 5, 2004 Maybe over the holidays, you'll have some down time toreview these 2 courses and can have some fun navigating the web to reviewthem!!So that everybody's on the same sheet of music, here's a bit of history. For over a year, DD has been working on curriculums for courses that wouldbe a part of what is called core competencies - basically training coursesfor direct care staff providing services to persons with developmentaldisabilities. They will ultimately be incorporated into the Coverage andLimitations Handbook and all direct care staff statewide will have to passthese courses in order to continue providing services. There is a workgroup that has met periodically

to develop and approve the curriculumelements, and review the products. The workgroup has already had anopportunity to review these 2 courses and we would like to give you thatopportunity, as well, before we roll them out for the public to beginusing. The courses have been developed in three different formats: web-based(which is the one we're sharing with you now), as a classroom model, and asa self-paced model. We will be marketing the web-based early next year.Below are instructions on how to access both of these web-based courses. If you have time over the holidays, sure hope that you will look over thesecourses and give us your feedback. We are excited and pleased with themand hope you will be too.We look forward to hearing back over the next several weeks and wish eachof you a great holiday!! If you have any questions or need additionalassistance give me a call (SC 278.9546/) or

email.mcThe following are the instructions on how to locate and use the Intro to DDcourse:Open Internet ExplorerOn the address line, type http://www.skillnetlearningcenter.orgClick on Online Learning CenterClick on Developmental DisabilitiesClick on the Introduction to Developmental Disabilities to begin thecourseWhile navigating through the course, you can use the next button at thebottom right of the screen to go from the beginning of the course all theway to the end of the course (navigating through all 4 modules of thecourse including module quizzes). At the end of the Legal Protections section (the last module), the nextbutton is disabled.
