I had to change Lee, he's been asleep all day and he's in a lot of pain. He was

winching every time I had to roll him over to get him and the bedding changed.

He seemed to say that his pain was in his back when I was thinking it would be

in his stomach. Could the back pain be related to his liver or is from being in

bed for a prolonged period of time. Last time he was up was Saturday morning.

Poor guy!

I talked to Hospice and she explained to me that if he isn't taking his

methadone, then I need to wake him and give him the liquid morphine every 2

hours. As it were he would be asleep and I wouldn't wake him and he'd go 8+

hours with no pain med. Then when he would wake up he'd be in a LOT of pain. I

was just able to get him to swallow his methadone pills so hopefully that will

help him get through the night. Otherwise I was going to get up every 2 hours

and get him his morphine.

Methadone..Lee's not or never has been a drug user. Hospice says they've found

that methadone is a good pain drug and uses it for controlling pain. He's

taking Methadone twice a day and then using morphine only for any breakthrough

pain. Anyone else using morphine or methadone for pain relief?

No, right now it's just his liver. I'm not sure if any of his other organs are

affected but if they are it would be because of his liver disease. I don't mind

you asking anything!! :)

Hi... Bobby, here. I am using morphine for pain both long acting and short. I

sometimes sleep for 8 hours straight without taking a short acting pill, and

WHOA, is it hard to catch up. I have not heard of hospice using methadone, Do

you know why they are using it instead of something else? Love, Bobby

You know I don't. All I know is that they tell me that research has shown that

it works well not only for drug w/drawl but as pain treatment. They have not

talked about or offered anything else. I know I had only heard of methadone

like in methadone clinics for heroin addicts. Lee was never a drug user. But

they use it solely as pain therapy.

As long as hospice is in there, they will make sure he is not in pain. I was

only curious because the hospice used a liquid morphine called roxynol for my

loved one. It did settle her down after the first day and we believe it kept her

comfortable enough. You have been through the wringer, and we are saying a

special prayer tonight for you and Lee. God bless you, Love, Bobby
