HI all,

Is there anyone here that is hypothyroid and thinks they have low

adrenal but can't confirm the low adrenal from docs. test and the doc.

goes ahead and tries you on hydrocortisone meds. to see what happens?

If so, was it a good or bad outcome?

thanks so much

Hi Bev,

I just had an am cortisol test and it was 12 (8-25 I think). My doc

said my cortisol was fine but my symptoms were no sex drive, wired and

tired at night, low bp, and just could not handle stress. I am on 4

grains of Armour and 25 mg HC. I can't say that I feel great, I am

still having the anxiety/mild depression and the sex drive is not

back. I have not gained any weight have actually lost a few pounds,

my belly doesn't seem as big. I just wish I could figure out this

depression thing, I am having marital problems so that could be the

cause of it.

Your doctor is wrong. 12 is NOT fine for an AM Cortisol level. It should

be at least 20. Did you do this before meds that AM ?

What about melatonin or DHEA for depression? You could always try St. 's Wort.

Melatonin is supposed to help depression and lower cancer risk. DHEA is for general body repair which has a mental component in regard to motivation for doing activity. St. 's Wort is like a weaker natural prozac. It make take weeks to work but the herb has other positive benefits, if you search St. 's Wort AND dosage or something like that, you can get a description of what it all does.

The Hormone book by Thierry Hertoge is good but not in depth enough. He is involved in the cortisol/T3 interactions but that is not in his book but in his journal articles.
