Guest guest
I forgot to mention I've been on this dose for 10 years, and it's time released, so I don't think that would be a component. I take T3 because I get lethargic if I don't. I don't have any hyper thyroid symptoms (while on it)so the doctor thinks the receptors on my cells have trouble latching on the the T3 already in the body. If the concentration is higher, there is more of a likelihood of the T3 attaching in the needed proportion. I'm not super skinny either, and I don't have energy, thus I though maybe the adrenal support would help. I know that often when your metabolism shifts you will initially gain weight (often muscle) then the weight starts to come off. But I'm not feelin that. Thanks! > > >>I'm on 60mcg of > T3 only twice a day. No Adrenal support. I thought I would try some > >>HC so I started with 10 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. Guest guest
>>All I am doing is gaining weight, now I added exercise and still gaining with Cortef, T3. I added Armour two weeks ago, still gaining << When you first start Armour, it will shut down production of TSH. That is due to the fact you take it orally in large amounts at once. The pituitary sense all this thyroid in the blood, and thinks there is plenty so it stops sending out TSH to tell the thyroid to make more hormones. Then in a couple hours this thyroid is all going into the cells and you don;t have enough yet cause you are still on too low a dose, but the pituitary doesn't get the message for at least 12 more hours so in effect you are more hypo than before you started taking thyroid meds. To overcome this you need to increase up to full replacement dosages of 180MG a day to 300MG a day depending on your size age and activity levels.Till you reach that full replacement dosage it is very possible to gain weight on thyroid meds. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
errr..um.. I DID have them but handed them back to my doctor. What I recall (vaguely) is that I had very high T3 (out of range I believe) but then based on what we're trying to do (up the concentration of T3) that is to be expected. My T4 was normal and my TSH was nonexistent. So I have enough T4, I even think it converts to T3, the T3 does not get in my system. , you mentioned in another message that unless you have high cortisol you don't gain weight when taking cortisol. Is it possible then that I already had high cortisol levels and taking HC just drove it up further? > > do you have any thyroid labs? Guest guest
Are you talking about T3? 180 mgs? My hair started falling out at the front sorta like a receeding hairline. Guest guest
My TSH was 1.9 and my T3 in the low normal range. I don't know how to figure it out since my doc tells me something different every time I go in. I had a 24 hour urine last year and another this year and was much lower on everything, estrogen, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, T2, etc. He is not an endocrinologist. Guest guest
>>Are you talking about T3? 180 mgs?<< no that would be 180MG Armour. The amount of T3 in that would be 27mcg to 45mcg plus whatever your body converts from T4. Guest guest
With all those levels going lower I would be wondering if you have a pituitary problem. Are there any DO's in your area? Those would be the best doctors to see for that, not an Endo. GOOD endo's are getting very hard to find as they all cow to the societies and it is dangerous for them not to as yours found out. Shameful as that is. ANY time you are on oral thyroid meds your TSH will drop too low. Mine has been under .001 for several years now.I am not hyper either. Guest guest
Well I guess I am on worthless amounts. The most T3 I ever took was 90 mgs a day of triliothryonine or some such and 45 mgs of Armour in the morning and 30 mgs in the afternoon. My Lyme doc prescribed Armour in 15 mg pills and said take 2 in a.m. and one in p.m. but my other doc said that is way too low and prescribed me 60 mg Armour. I just got it and have not started that high a dose yet. Will take some now. -- Re: HC and weight gain? >>Are you talking about T3? 180 mgs?<<no that would be 180MG Armour. Guest guest
My endo still keeps in contact with me tho her hubby in now in jail as her accomplice, they are really getting screwed over by the Kansas State Board of lunatics. She said that supplementing with growth hormone will eventually reveal other deficiencies that were not so obvious. I had an MRI done on my pituitary but it looked OK. My hyperbaric doc here and my Lyme doc in Missouri, are playing endocrinologist and both wanted me on Armour thyroid but I don't think they really know what they are doing. I am not working at the moment and cannot afford other treatment tho not working is the perfect time to go to all the docs. Guest guest
There are several reasons T3 may not get into your cells. First poor or damaged receptors. These are the fittings that T3 must get into in order to affect metabolic changes. Or low cortisol, which I am not sure how it works,m but when it is not present the T3 will build in the blood and you can have plenty of it and still be severely hypo due to lack of cortisol. You have to have enough Cortisol for the T3 to get into the cells. And third, low Ferritin. You can have plenty of T3 but Ferritin is what carries it all over the body to be used where it is needed. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
