Guest guest Posted July 30, 2011 Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 Hello Suzie, firs tI tak emore than a big glass of water per pill so it makes 2 to 4 glasses of water. than I had some magnesium citrate to compensate for constipation I take one welchol per main meal at the end of my herx after 10 days I take 3 at he pick of my herx like from th e4 th to the 7 days . I do not take any for th ebreakfast so I can take all the good oils the suplements etc . Guest guest Posted July 30, 2011 Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 Hi Angie, I take welchol for herxes to help detox the liver and flush out the toxins, so no I have never experienced or heard of anyone else for that matter experiencing any herx like reactions to taking it. Since it is for herxes it shouldn't make you herx. Maybe you are allergic to it? ~ I seem to get a flare up of vertigo when I take welchol. Even one pill does it. Guest guest Posted July 30, 2011 Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 hi angie. yes, i do get a flare-up. and get denser in my head, dizzier, etc. i have heard various things about it. one that it releases more toxins than it can absorb. another that if there is mold you won't get results if there is ongoing mold problem where you are living (we have some mold). and another that some lyme people have a particular marcons bacteria that makes it not effective, sorry can't remember where i read that, prbably something shoemaker wrote.nevertheless i'm going with the welchol, for a month. i never have done it more than a couple of days in a row. i've also read that after the first couple of weeks the toxin level could be brought down. i've tried so many detox/binder methods and can't say any were a huge help so i want to give this a more significant try. best to you,xoxsusie I seem to get a flare up of vertigo when I take welchol. Guest guest Posted July 30, 2011 Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 Hi Angie, I decided to look further at the side effects, etc. of Welchol after seeing your post, since I have also taken it, and plan to begin again when my coil machine arrives. I went to both Welchol.com and webmd.com. For anyone who doesn't know, www.webmd.com is a good site to go and look up both prescription drugs and supplements. They have a " Find a drug or supplement " search that makes it a breeze. And I got better and more understandable info than I did from Welchol.com. I don't know how accurate they are on the supplements; I don't know if I've ever looked one up there. One of the best things is that you can read reviews written by others who are taking the same med and see what reactions/success they are having with it. Now, back to Welchol. Webmd listed severe dizziness in the allergic reaction section along with the advice to call your doctor. It was listed right alongside the scary ones like swelling of the throat, so I would be very careful (personally I wouldn't try taking it again) until I talked to my doctor if I were you. That being said, on Welchol.com, I did a document search on the drug information pamphlet (those booklets that fold out with the tiny print and seem to be written in a foreign language ;o) ) for the word dizziness and didn't get any hits. However, I did see that in one of the tables of most commonly reported side effects, there was a full 1% increase in accidental injuries for those taking Welchol vs a placebo. ????? That makes me wonder if it might cause some unsteadiness of some kind, though it could very well be related to another drug or possibly a fluke. I'm certainly not a doctor, pharmacist, or even a statistician. I just thought that was kind of odd. Personally, I have such terrible balance anyway, I wouldn't have noticed if it threw me off a little. Another thing I didn't know, but that makes total sense, is that Welchol should be taken at least 4 hrs away from certain medications and supplements. They specifically mentioned thyroid medication and certain birth control pills, as well as other drugs that I didn't recognize. They mentioned taking a multi-vitamin 4 hrs away, so I think I will adjust my daily routine when I resume taking it. This doesn't apply to everything though, so do your homework. Webmd.com also mentioned that long-term use can lead to certain vitamin deficiencies, so, again, do your homework and supplement as needed. One more thing: I did not even try to read the whole drug information pamphlet at Welchol.com, so my info here should be considered very incomplete. It was just more than my poor migrained, brain-fogged mind could handle today. :o/ All things said and done, for me personally, I will begin taking it again when my treatments get started and the dreaded but necessary herxing begins. But I have been reminded to do my homework before starting a new drug--something that I used to always do but have let slip. Do you get 2 or three bowel movements a day ? if not the aenemas are necessary for the neurotoxines not to stagant in the intestine in the binder ( in the welchol ) to be eliminated asap. it does absorb the neurotoxines but it then it needs to go away with it it is like having a trash at home that stay too long in the kitchen . I tis in the trash bu tit needs to go . This said on emay take less I have a big problem of toxicity probably due to a very hight load of neurotoxic bacterias . I take all my pills in te morning so I do not have to worry how far I take it from the welchol and I do not take th ebinder for the breakfast.
