Have a new patient – status post kidney transplant.

Has Medicare A & B due to ESRD & disability – Medicare is primary.

Also has Aetna commercial through her husband’s

work with creditable prescription coverage. And she also has pays for a

Medicare D plan – they are not sure why they have that also. Can she

drop the D plan?

Yes. There is no real reason for her to

have the part D plan. It is just costing her extra money.

I think she will have to wait until the enrollment period (Nov 15), but I'm not sure. She can call the customer service number on the back of her card to verify though. You're right though, she really doesn't need the part D.
