how my surgery went

just wanted to let everyone know that i had my explant surgery

yesterday morning. it took only 3 1/2 hours instead of the estimated

5 hours.i don't remember talking to dr. kolb when she came in the

recovery room and husbands aren't all that talented when it comes to

relaying dr. info second-hand but that is all i have to go on until i

see the doctor again next thursday. i didn't have to have the

mastopexy and she mentioned to matt that while the chest muscle had

pulled a little, she didn't think it needed to be repaired, so my

bill should only be around $8,000 instead of the estimated almost

11,000.but i'll be asking her if the chest muscle will be a problem

if i'm weight lifting in the gym. matt also said she saw only a

little infection so the cipro i took earlier must have done a good

job.i haven't even taken any pain medicine since the fentanyl they

gave me in the recovery room. it's not that i'm not hurting but i'm

still groggy from all that fentanyl and anesthesia and i don't feel

like making it any worse. i like to be alert.i've been sleeping off

and on ever since the surgery.she said that the implants didn't

appear to be leaking or anything.she sent them home with me and i've

looked at them.they look like bags of clear fluid with nothing

growing inside them or anything out of place. i don't understand how

they made me sick but they did. i have to ask her more about this.she

sent the scar tissue to pathology but she said that it often doesn't

even show anything.she gave me a different antibiotic than cipro this

time(zithromax) and i don't seem to have any side effects from it. i

only have to take it for 5 days and the diflucan for 5 days. that's

another good thing.

oh by the way, she also said that there would be a class action suit

for saline breast implants just like for the silicone ones and that

she can document they made me sick even if they're not ruptured or

anything.of course, i don't expect to see one penny of compensation

for all my medical expenses because i don't think any of the women in

the class action suit for silicone implants have gotten any

compensation have they? if nothing else, at least the fact that they

weren't even FDA approved at the time i got them should count for

something.

anyway, i can't wait to get these drains out thursday and get back to

normal. i hate not being able to bathe properly. my husband has been

emptying my drains for me since i'm so squeamish.good thing he can do

that or else it wouldn't get done at all.he used to work as aide for

a home health agency. i don't know why they tell you not to lift your

arms over your head until the drains are out. it makes it hard to do

anything. i can't even lift them hardly at all at the moment anyway,

let alone over my head.how did y'all manage to wash your hair, etc.

without raisng your arms? well, i'm getting tired again so i need to

go get back in my recliner. just wanted to let y'all know how things

went and what toe doc said about the class action suit. if all goes

well with that, we'll all be vindicated for all the crap we've had to

go through with these things.
