Any magic for changing Medicare dates?

I have a patient who had a kidney transplant in March with

Tricare Prime – Medicare is just today showing up in the system but with

Medicare A starting 04/01/10 and Medicare B starting 10/01/10. It is my

understanding that with Tricare (sponsor is retired), both Medicare A & B

need to have started March 1, 2010. We have been on the phone a number of

times over the past few months with Social Security and just learned last week

she had been approved for Medicare but the local Social Security office did not

have the information on how the Medicare start dates would be listed.

We need to get the Medicare dates changed asap – the

local offices move VERY slowly. And to top it off her donor is having a hernia

repair which is a documented donor related complication so the payor needs to

be clear also for this donor surgery next week.

If anyone has a special contact with Social Security to help

change the Medicare dates that would be MOST helpful. Thank you!

Try calling Medicare Secondary Payer and have all of the

relative dates in front of you. They usually can change things within 48

hours. You will have to fax the 2728 Form etc. bev

I have called the Medicare COB office but

they said their info has to come from Social Security. Do you have a phone #

for Medicare MSP?

Congrats on the efforts for your grandson!

sadly the COBC cannot fix the effective date ... have you tried Santana at CMS? maybe he can get you to an insider?
