Guest guest
- I have a Mac book Pro but I've been using for most e-mail, messaging, iTunes etc. over the past two or three years. I also have a few regular PC notebooks as well as seven or eight desktop PCs scattered about my house. (I build desktop PCs myself). I like it well enough. It's constructed well but costs substantially more than a regular PC notebook would. I run regular Windows using parallels workstation. The issues I've had or forsee with the Mac would be- At the end of its life, replacing it with another Mac would be somewhat expensive or more expensive than a Windows notebook. I use the Macintosh mail client which is proprietary and so I am locked into using it-if I had to start over I would probably use something like Thunderbird so that if I change machines to a regular PC I can save and transfer all of my e-mail messages which I sometimes search. Connecting to printers with the Mac I found to be a real pain in the butt. Otherwise the connectivity is excellent. If you have any questions I would be glad to talk with you in person. Regards, Lou Spikol (Even though I am somewhat of a geek regarding hardware I've gone retro with my phone-I have a Samsung ruggedized phone which I just use for gasp " talking " .) > > Spent some time on the Wiki in the last few days, but would like to ask > for other input on Mac vs PC, especially from anyone who wishes they > could switch form one to the other or has done a switch. > > Also looking at hand held options, for phone/email and probably going > with blackberry, but wanted to make sure not missing other > thoughts/words of wisdom. > > Thanks! Guest guest
one thing i've done when it's time for me to buy a new mac is sell my old mac on ebay. they have good resale value. i bought a 13 inch macbook for 1100 dollars, used it for 4 years, then sold it on ebay for 600. the 600 went towards buying me a 13 inch macbook pro. thuc huynh http://good.md
