Guest guest
Robin, I'm glad to hear you haven't noticed any difference empty stomach or full. I've got so many 'empty stomach' things, I should be bone thin! LOLThe folks I purchased mine from say that all of their customers do it either way, and they all say it works. Yeah! I've been putting mine in my morning smoothie - can't taste it or feel any grit.Best, I imagine you could mix it with food. I have thought about that before but then I thought it might be gritty. I personally hate to bite down on grit, it turns my stomach, so I don't mix it in food myself. Warmest Regards,Robin LittleThank you very much Robin, Cristal clear, it can be mixed with food right ? Guest guest
Hello, Over the past several weeks, I've been using DE myself. It has improved my energy level and has a calming effect. So far, no joy with candida, though. Do you know of any cures of Lyme with it? Thanks,

Guest guest
It is very okay to take with food. Because it is a little gritty if you put it in apple sauce you can't hardly even tell it's in there! That is how we take it in my family. Give it a try! ~ I imagine you could mix it with food. Guest guest
I use 4-5 frozen strawberries and sometimes some blueberries in a blender with a squirt of fresh lyme and a heaping tablespoon of DE. I sweeten it with splenda - not the healthiest option I know. I've been adding trace minerals. I usually just use berries as they're a better glycemic fruits. It's actually really delicious. There's a slightly gritty feel but it's not too bad and it's still enjoyable. I notice when I take it regularly at 1 heaping tblsnpn a day, it lowers my blood pressure and my cholesterol levels were lowered last time I checked. I've never taken as much as you Robin, but it sounds like it's worth trying. Guest guest
You might want to use vegetable glycerin as a sweetener or Xylitol which is very good for teeth and bones. I just bought a VitaMix blender and made a healthy skinny girl Margarita using Vegetable Glycerin a whole Lemon, a whole Lyme a whole orange and strawberries. Dr. athon MD from the Tahoma Clinic and who is actively involved with the Townsend Letter has written a whole book on the benefits of Xylitol. It is amazingly healthy and does not feed Candida. Splenda on the other hand contains Aspartame which can actually exascerbate the neuro problems associated with Lyme such as Migranes. Here is an Amazon link on books that espouse the healthy benefits of Xylitol: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks & field-keywo\ rds=Xylitol & x=0 & y=0 > > > > I use 3 to 5 HEAPING tablespoons, or about 1/4 - 1/2 cup. Guest guest
The last thing a Lymie needs is the excito-toxins of splenda or aspartame. 'Not the healthiest option?' Not even in the neighborhood of 'health'! Try poison! Poison that your poor liver will have to detox, along with so many other things.Really, xylitol, stevia, or just nothing at all, would make your otherwise wonderful smoothie worth drinking, but to go to that good effort and then put in artificial sweeteners is SO not good. I've read that even ants and mice won't eat them. Not only that, splenda actually negates any feeling of satiety, making you want more slpenda-enhanced foods. Studies are showing that artificial sweeteners actually contribute to obesity.Be well,LénaI use 4-5 frozen strawberries and sometimes some blueberries in a blender with a squirt of fresh lyme and a heaping tablespoon of DE. Guest guest
I know you're absolutely right about that. I find stevia unpleasant, and need to stick to gluten free products so I haven't found a healthy sweet substitute that I can use. I've tried xylitol and it didn't agree with me, but maybe that was something with that particular product. I guess I need to take another look at what's available. I've never heard of vegetable gycerin as a sweetener. Does that have any sugar grams? Also I wonder if it's gluten free. I'll check it out but if you know of a site with good info on it, please share. > > > > I use 3 to 5 HEAPING tablespoons, or about 1/4 - 1/2 cup. Guest guest
Xylitol is something that can even bring on herxes. I think one has to ramp up slowly using it. And I think there's something about maintaining it's use, or the body will look for it in some other way that can cause an imbalance. (I wish this Lyme brain could remember all that I read!) I only use a couple tsp a day, but once made an amazingly easy lemon pie recipe that I'd done previously with sugar, this time using xylitol completely rather than sugar, and it made me feel quite woozy. I agree with you about stevia, and even though they're tinkering with aspects of steviosides, making things like Truvia, I've heard that their tinkering has made it something no so good for you, either. sigh.Be well,LénaI know you're absolutely right about that. Guest guest
I would try different forms of Stevia (liquid, pwdr concentrate and cup for cup). There are also several different brands. It is summer and many of the garden centers sell Stevia plants. I bought a plant last summer and used the leaves to sweeten smoothies and all kinds of drinks. I should've experimented more. I would think you could grow the plant indoor with some luck, at least several months. The plant leaves taste way better than the powder or liquid.Sometimes I think it just takes our pallet a while to adjust. I've never liked any sweeteners, not even Stevia. Now, I'm OK with Stevia in most things. Other than that - I use SUGAR :-) I wouldn't touch splenda or the other sweeteners. The data is in and they are not what anyone wants or needs. BTW- my dentist knows I won't use flouride. He told me to brush with xylitol at my last appt.Best, Thanks for the info. You've certainly looked into this! Guest guest
Lena,I'm sorry, I should have stated that I wouldn't touch other artificial sweeteners. Xylitol and Stevia are the only no-calorie sweeteners I would use. It's just that I started using stevia a while back and have stuck with it. I think that if one can't use one of these, then rapidura or plain old cain sugar is best. I would chose sugar over Splenda or NutraSweet anyday. I do plan on using xylitol (or MMS) to brush my teeth with. I'll do some experimenting with xylitol in food over the next few months.Every once in while, I will have a soda. It's the real deal, not diet. You can now purchase soda that is sweetened with sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. Best, Xylitol IS a healthy alternative, but as it kills pathogens, (this is why it's in toothpaste and dental chewing gums), it must be ramped up slowly, so the body can get used to it. Google it and learn more. Be well,Léna Thanks for the info. You've certainly looked into this! It doesn't seem like there's a healthy alternative - does anyone have any other ideas? I really would like to be able to stop the splenda. > > >> > > I use 3 to 5 HEAPING tablespoons, or about 1/4 - 1/2 cup. Guest guest
Hi Lena, I sure like Vegetable Glycerin for smoothies or anything that does not require baking. It is very sweet and according to books that I have on Candida is one of the safer anti candida alternatives. I have never had any problem with Xylitol causing diarrhea, but I sure have with Erythritol. It definitely causes intestinal upset and because of this, things I have read says that it will allow the bad gut bacteria to overgrow. I have read that Xylitol has an antibiotic effect, so that could be why you feel woozy after consumming it. I just read a really great article though old 2004 from the Weston Price foundation Sugar-Free Blues: Everything You Wanted to Know About Artificial Sweeteners . It is a good run down of all of the artificial sweeteners available. You can type it into the Weston Price search engine. > > > > > > I use 3 to 5 HEAPING tablespoons, or about 1/4 - 1/2 cup. Guest guest
Curious. If it has an abx effect, could it (in larger quantities) cause encysting? Does it simply pass through the digestive track or is it digested and absorbed into the blood stream?L Hi Lena, I sure like Vegetable Glycerin for smoothies or anything that does not require baking. Guest guest
Lena and allI have never heard of xylitol causing herxes before and I use it daily,It does have power to helpkill bacteria in the mouth and sinuses .Me and my oddball body, even stevia used to cause me yeast infections.I stayed on splenda for years because I didnt know other options,This of course was back before they learned how to take the after taste of stevia out of it. too.My body tolerates a little bit of stevia now but mostly I use xylitol, it looks like and tastes like sugar. is good for baking Now i use xylitol to sweeten everything .It,like erythritol is a sugar alcohol , There are two forms of xylitol, one from corn and one from Birch tree pulp.Always make sure you are using birch tree xylitol.Xylitol also can have the side effect of acting like a laxative since it is fiber based. Ihave not had that problem, but I know someone who started drinking sweet tea made with xylitol after years of using sugarAnd he had bowel issues.Id recommend that anyone switching over to xylitol do so slowly like half sugar half xylitol for a while and gradually make it more xylitol than sugar , so the body can adaptIn the long run its cheapest to but it bulk buying 50 lbs or is it 55pounds for around 200 bucks .otherwise you pay a premium for it ( usually 7 to 8 dollars a pound bag)Erithritol is another option as a sweetener , as is agave( agave usually comes in a liquid syrupy looking consistency)JanIn some of the new stevia products they use dextrose which is a sugar and sometimes erythritol,so read labels carefullyRe: OT: RE: Diatomaceous Earth FOR PARASITEs Posted by: "Guyot Léna" drumroll@... lenasquest Date: Wed Jul 27, 2011 5:20 pm ((PDT))Xylitol is something that can even bring on herxes. I think one has to ramp up slowly using it. And I think there's something about maintaining it's use, or the body will look for it in some other way that can cause an imbalance. (I wish this Lyme brain could remember all that I read!)I only use a couple tsp a day, but once made an amazingly easy lemon pie recipe that I'd done previously with sugar, this time using xylitol completely rather than sugar, and it made me feel quite woozy.I agree with you about stevia, and even though they're tinkering with aspects of steviosides, making things like Truvia, I've heard that their tinkering has made it something no so good for you, either. sigh.
