Guest guest
I have several complex nodules on my thyroid. All my tests show normal function of my thyroid but continue to point to being thyroid cancer. I've had it biopsied twice (Fine needle; most recently almost 2 years ago, shortly after I was dx with chronic lyme). Well, the nodules have continued to grow larger and the tests continue to offer no answers (which typically points to thyroid cancer). My gut says that these nodules are lyme cysts. However, they've gotten fairly giant at this point and are very painful. So, I'm going to have them biopsied again to rule out cancer once again. I'm wondering if anybody has had or knows of a way to have a fine needle biopsy sent in for testing of borrellia and related co-infections. My other options are to continue to keep checking to make sure it isn't or doesn't turn into cancer (but I'm afraid that every time they stick a needle in the tumors there is a potential of releasing/dragging bacteria along with it) or having my thyroid removed which means lifelong thyroid medication. Ideally, it would be great to test the sample for lyme/coinfections and then plan a course of action around the specific infection if they are in fact lyme cysts. Any experience or insight anybody could share would be greatly appreciated! TIA! Cam's Voice
