Guest guest
Hi Coutney. As for being stressed out, anxious, worried...it is all normal. I was the same way until the day before surgery. You should feel blessed that you have a supportive husband! Mine was wonderful too. As for the tubes, they really don't hurt AT ALL. It is more gross and uncomfortable. I honestly had the most problem with them when the local PS took them out. It felt so nasty, kind of like a snake wiggiling out of your body. Everyone told me it wouldn't hurt but it hurt me. Only for a second though, it is quick! I didn't stay in Atlanta to have Dr. Kolb do it though so I had a local PS do it (he was so rude) I spoke to Kolb after and she said it shouldn't have hurt and been that uncomfy for me. So I think it was the PS fault. As for the pain after surgery. I had a pain pump that went directly into the pain site. It was an extra $250 but I think it was worth every penny. I didn't have much pain just very sore. I took the pain killers to sleep thru the night, however I don't think I really needed them. I really think the original implant surgery was much worse then explant. The best part about this entire situtation is the feeling I felt after. I felt so much lighter and free in a sense. It is so hard to explain. I wish you the best and it sounds like because of your support system and your PS whom is willing to do things your way, things will be just fine! And please remember (you can see by my pics and progression) don't freak yourself out when you see your breast after explant. IT TAKES TIME TO HEAL! I think one of the girls posted on the other site a great word of advise from Dr. M....if you can don't even look at them for 5 months! (LOL, YEAH RIGHT) they change so much and take time to heal! Keep us updated, and you are in my prayers! Jenna --- In , " Mike " <iceman18152000@y...> wrote: > > I only have 11 days until my surgery now. I'm starting to stress a lot > about it. Guest guest
Hi - the drains didn't hurt at all, they were just a little bulky under the clothing. They didn't freak me out at all, and I was worried that they would. When my husband asked if it was upsetting to see what was coming out of them, I said no - and I think it was because of what we go through with our periods every month - we're used to the sight of our own " output " . It didn't hurt getting them out - it was just an odd pulling sensation for about 10 seconds, and then all was well. I asked for painkillers afterwards. My doctor wanted to try just giving me Celebrex at first, but after a few hours I called and said I needed Percocet. With the Percocet, the pain was totally manageable and it was much less pain than I had with the implants. I only took the painkillers for 2 days, and then I switched to Tylenol, and that was really only at bedtime. Guest guest
, I had a pain pump that helped me after surgery. But many women I know just took ibupropen and were fine. The drains sound much scarier than they really are. It's good to drain the fluids. My husband helped me with the drains, and measuring. Dr. Kolb had me measure the amount and by that she determined when the drains could be removed. It is normal to be anxious before surgery. But you'll be fine. And just think that soon you will be through this, and on the road to recovery from implants!! > > I only have 11 days until my surgery now. I'm starting to stress a lot > about it.
